NO ONE can be on it more than 5 years. only 3 consecutive years. this was changed under clinton-newt-kasich. what a lot of people try to do today is prove their kids are slow so they can get ssdi.It used to be 674 dollars but they went up to 729 about 2 years ago. I cashed enough of those damn checks that i know. would have to take 10,000 out of my bank 1st week of the month.

I disagree, we need to take care of those who can't take care of themselves. However, I do think there needs to be many more strings attached to welfare benefits such as community service, job applications, drug tests, monitoring programs to stem abuse of the system, etc

i agree and lets do it to politicians (drug test), oil companies and farm subsidies to name a few since they get the bulk of the welfare. Lets also go after companies like Walmart who have billion dollar profits but can't seem to pay enough to their employees that the tax payer still has to pay for their medical coverage. Lets not just go after the poor who get welfare. You in? I work at a casino that rakes in about 18 million a month but can't pay their cleanup crew more than 12 dollars an hour so they are all on welfare to get their health care (my tax dollars)since the casino has to pay a few useless assholes 5hundred grand a year.
