Trey Gowdy is not having a good week. For the past 18 months, he has been in charge of leading the Republican attacks against Hillary Clinton courtesy of the Benghazi Select Committee, and so far he’s come up with basically nothing. Zilch. Nada.

That’s bad news (for him anyways), since Hillary is set to testify before the committee on Thursday. Instead of the focus being on her, it’s on him now.

In a bit of karma, Congressman Gowdy doesn’t like how he is being treated – plain and simple. In an exclusive interviewwith POLITICO, you can hear the former federal prosecutor almost tear up as he complains about being treated exactly the same way he’s treated Mrs. Clinton this whole time:
“I would say in some ways these have been among the worst weeks of my life. Attacks on your character, attacks on your motives, are 1,000-times worse than anything you can do to anybody physically — at least it is for me.”
It’s really amusing if you think about it. His words closely parallel the criticism being levied from the left, that this is just a partisan attack on Mrs. Clinton timed right before the presidential elections. He used this same reasoning to complain about attacks on him. Who would have thought?
“It’s not lost on me that the uptick in criticism is [happening] the two weeks before she’s coming. I don’t think that that is a coincidence; it’s an attempt to marginalize and impugn the credibility of the panel that’s going to be asking her questions.”
The only difference is, the accusations levied against Mr. Gowdy and the Benghazi Select Committee have merit. The 18-month long debacle known as the Benghazi witch-hunt, have taken longer even than Watergate, and still nothing to show for it. Except for Mr. Gowdy’s hypocrisy, that is.
Just last week Gowdy tried to call out Clinton for having a classified source in her email, yet the CIA fired back that the information wasn’t classified at all. To make matters worse, Gowdy’s team leaked the name of the informant at the same time they were trying to hold Clinton accountable for it. They later redacted the name in the subject line of the email, and then attempted to blame the State Department for the error, even though they are the ones who did it.
If Gowdy can’t hold himself accountable for his own actions, how can he go after Clinton? It’s the ultimate hypocrisy. Now that he’s under the same limelight, he’s not liking it very much. Too bad, Congressman. You’ve created your own grave on this one.

Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) admitted he faked evidence to portray former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) as guilty of breaking the law, according to Occupy Democrats. Democratic leaders and the American public are calling on the Benghazi Committee to give back taxpayer money funding it, and to end the committee’s partisan charades.

Rep. Gowdy admitted his actions, but only after the CIA outed his egregious lapse in judgement and procedure to both sides of the House, and after Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Mar.) called Rep. Gowdy out in a letter.
      View image on Twitter

This revelation was the last partisan straw that broke the supposedly non-partisan Benghazi Select Committee’s back.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and other Democratic leaders sent a letter to Republican National Committee Chairman, Reince Priebus to demand that they and the GOP give back the $4.7 million in taxpayer money the Benghazi Select Committee has spent, according to Roll Call.
Democratic leaders demand the GOP disband the Benghazi Committee and stop using it as a “Clinton opposition machine,” to raise money for GOP presidential candidates – donations resulting from lies.
Secretary Clinton is testifying at the Select Benghazi Committee all day Thursday, Oct. 22.
Clear Implications Arise From Confusing Timeline

The CIA contacted both parties to say Rep. Gowdy, lied about and falsified the classified information he used to accuse Secretary Clinton of allegedly leaking the information and allegedly burning a spy in the process, according to the Oct. 18 letter from Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Mar.).
Rep. Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the Select Committee, wrote:
“On October 7, 2015, you sent me a 13-page letter making a grave new accusation against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Specifically, you accused her of compromising national security and endangering lives.
The problem with your accusation—as with so many others during this investigation—is that you failed to check your facts before you made it, and the CIA has now informed the Select Committee that you were wrong.”
      He added:
“Contrary to your claims … the CIA confirmed that ‘the State Department consulted with the CIA on this production, the CIA reviewed these documents, and the CIA made no redactions to protect classified information.’
Unfortunately, you sent your letter on October 7 without checking first with the CIA. Now that we have done so, we have learned that your accusations were incorrect.”
Rep. Gowdy wrote a response admitting he falsified Secretary Clinton’s documents. He added that yes, he presented the fake documents as evidence of Secretary Clinton’s alleged guilt, but then went a step further to write that he would continue to alter documents as he sees fit.

Partisan Intent of Benghazi Committee Obvious

The latest revelations prove the Select Benghazi Committee is a partisan attack on Secretary Clinton. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) confirmed as much when he said House Republicans impaneled the Select Committee to attack Secretary Clinton’s “poll numbers,” according to Roll Call.
Seven Congressional investigations had already cleared Secretary Clinton and the State Department of wrongdoing.

      According to Occupy Democrats:
“The legality of all this is still unclear, but one would assume that some consequences would be in store for distorting intelligence documents and openly lying to the public.”
McCarthy eventually walked back his comments, but had already damaged the Select Committee’s reputation with the truth. Other details and evidence have since poured out, indicating the Select Benghazi Committee was a much more elaborate and extensive conspiracy to smear Secretary Clinton than it originally appeared.

Senator Reid wrote the letter, signed by at least three other Democratic leaders, a few weeks after uncovering the smear campaign, and a day after Rep. Gowdy’s admission.
Senate and Congressional Democrats won’t stop until justice is served, and say the Select Committee should disband, giving the $4.7 million of taxpayer money back so the American public can have justice, Hillary Clinton can get back to her life, and the four Americans killed in the Sept. 2012 Benghazi attacks can finally rest in peace.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. military acted properly on the night of the deadly 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, according to leaked testimony from a retired, three-star Army general who served as chief lawyer for Republicans on the House committee investigating the attacks.
Retired Army Lt. Gen. Dana Chipman "repeatedly commended the military's actions on the night of the attacks during closed interviews with Defense Department officials," including a Jan. 8 interview with former Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, Democrats on the committee say.
Chipman, a former judge advocate general for the Army, served as chief counsel for Republicans on the House Benghazi panel from August 2014 until January.

Top Democrats on the committee — Reps. Elijah Cummings of Maryland and Adam Smith of Washington — released the testimony Sunday in a letter to the panel's chairman, Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C. The letter is the latest volley in an escalating, election-year fight over the House Benghazi investigation, which has lasted more than two years.

Democrats have called for panel to disband and say it is a thinly veiled excuse for Republicans to undermine Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton, who was secretary of state at the time of the attacks.
Republicans say the Obama administration has dragged its feet, failing to produce needed documents or interview subjects, delaying a final report in the twin assaults on Sept. 11, 2012, that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.
The Democrats' letter quotes Chipman as telling Panetta: "I think you ordered exactly the right forces to move out and to head toward a position where they could reinforce what was occurring in Benghazi or Tripoli or elsewhere in the region. And, sir, I don't disagree with the actions you took, the recommendations you made and the decisions you directed."
Chipman later told Panetta that he was "worried" that U.S. officials were caught by surprise during the Benghazi raids, which occurred on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Still, Chipman told Panetta: "Nothing could have affected what occurred in Benghazi," the letter said.
Democrats said the comments by Chipman contradict a persistent GOP claim that the Obama administration could have done more to respond to the attacks. Previous investigations have blamed management failures at the State Department for a lack of security at the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, an issue that has dogged Clinton and other Obama administration officials.
"The conclusions of your former chief counsel match almost exactly the findings — from more than two years ago — of the House Committee on Armed Services, which conducted its own investigation into the attacks in Benghazi," Cummings and Smith wrote in a letter to Gowdy.
Cummings is the senior Democrat on the Benghazi panel, while Smith is senior Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee. He also serves on the Select Benghazi panel.
Jamal Ware, a spokesman for the Benghazi panel, said he could not comment on the remarks attributed to Chipman, saying the panel "can't talk about any of the transcribed interviews" conducted in private. The panel has interviewed nearly 100 witnesses, including at least 76 who have never been interviewed about Benghazi by a congressional committee, Ware said.
Gowdy has said the committee has made "considerable progress" in recent months and expects to issue a final report before summer.
Republicans emailed a statement from Chipman Monday saying he agrees with Gowdy that if some witnesses refer the committee to other witnesses, "the responsible thing to do is interview them. The committee has an obligation to the American people to determine what can and cannot be substantiated, so if an individual makes public allegations about Benghazi, the committee should interview that person."
Cummings and Smith said Gowdy omitted Chipman's comments when he fired back at the Defense Department recently for criticizing the GOP-led investigation into the Benghazi attacks. Gowdy's actions, coupled with delays that have pushed the 2-year-old inquiry into the heat of the 2016 presidential race, "have damaged the credibility of the Select Committee beyond repair," they wrote.
The letter from the Democrats comes after Gowdy sent a letter to Defense Secretary Ash Carter complaining that a top Pentagon official had intentionally mischaracterized the House inquiry.
Gowdy said comments by Stephen C. Hedger, assistant secretary of defense for legislative affairs, were "riddled with factual inaccuracies" and did "a disservice to the public" and employees at the Defense Department.
Hedger, in an April 28 letter to Gowdy, expressed frustration with the Benghazi panel, citing a "crescendo" of costly, duplicative and unnecessary requests, including a few based on claims made on Facebook or talk radio.

                      sigh!

Trump was running against 17 others at one time. (ok probably a dozen or so serious candidates). Yet he still broke the all time record.

Hillary was running against Bernie the whole time basically.

If I need to explain why your post doesn't hold any water, then it's hopeless.

the democrats usually have 2% more than the repubs but independents lean right. but when he has slammed muslims and hispanics it may be over.

actually he hasn't slammed Muslims and Hispanics. Many support Trump.

he is for enforcing immigration laws and securing the border. Much like every other country on the planet. As far as Muslims go, he suggested a temporary ban until they can be better vetted, set up safe zones in the country where they are from and have other counties in that region share the brunt of the cost.

Seems very reasonable. But what do I know?

is there a law that they have to come halfway across the world to North America? The US takes in tons of Muslims already. Why can't countries unite and help them where they are?

Are you denying that radical Islam doesn't exist? Are you denying radical Islam isn't a huge problem all over Europe?

What's wrong with saying ... "hey, let's just hold on for a moment. Let's set up safe zones over there and let's hold off for awhile until we can better vet the people before bringing them over."

I just dont see other countries doing this to American citizens who kill more people than anyone on the planet. Id think most muslims are born into their faith, seems kinda silly to treat them how Trump wants to treat them.

again, he only suggested a temporary ban until they can be better vetted. Several European countries have publicly admitted they would have not allowed so many into their countries if they could do it over. Pretending it isn't true doesn't make it go away. It has zero to do with inclusion but everything to do with common sense. Many Muslims agree also.

there are a lot of muslims that work in the financial sector. transamerican always would make them managers. every one i talked to hates trump. my family is mexican and puerto rican descent. everyone that i know(but one of the cousins husbands that owns 600 homes in san antonio) hates trump. these are people with money including one that owns 3 bars with one being on the riverwalk. trump will be lucky to get 10 % of the hispanic and black vote. it should be a a blood bath. if hillary does get indicted than uncle joebiden runs and it won't be close.bernie has no chance because i don't think the us will ever elect a jew. i can see if trump does get elected he will kill the party like zachary taylor did to the whigs

The Clintons meaning both Hilliary and Slick Willy are two of the biggest racists in politics. So, you would be smart to put the race card away. Hilliary calling blacks SUPER PREDATORS and Bill saying that Barrack Obama should be carrying his bags is as racist as it gets. So, stop with the racist BS!
