Yeah, it already puts the breakeven higher than he is sitting, at 52.4%

Changing the bet size is raising that breakeven point. You get the same effect with percentage bettors who simply bet a flat percentage of the existing bankroll. Because the BR fluctuates, the bet sizes will change, and it will be costly.
