The timing seems odd to me. I was ready to move on prior to this season..but if you are going to go and blow up the team why not let him finish the season?

Braves haven't been the same since Ted Turner was forced to sell the team and GM John Schuerholz became team president in 2007...no more games on TV, no more spending money to get good talent and free agents, basically trimming payroll to a bare minimum with scrub players, most of whom who are past their prime and/or never amounted to anything in the first place and this is why they are once again the laughingstock of MLB after that tremendous run of 14 consecutive division titles from 1991 - 2004.

Braves need dale murphy so they can fully resemble the 1980's squads.

They had unfortunate breaks with starting pitching and surgeries. Tommy Hanson, Beachy, Minor, Medlen, hell even the ace SU man Venters all went under the knife/injuries and the farm system from years past which had produced solid players just wasnt happening anymore. They are attempting to home grow a winner again with all these young guys but the Uggla/Upton project seriously hurt them and who knows what this team will look like moving forward.

Buy your World Series futures for Braves now. The new manager is going to mount a counter attack to the top of the division. The talent is there. Freddy couldn't manage the high expectations of the roster.

No one could win with that roster. . This year they were throwing away the season till the new stadium was ready. Not sure what the point of firing him was

Gonzalez was Frank Wrens guy. Wren is gone now. Fredi should have been canned with him two years ago. Really has nothing to do with this years results, though there were things he could have done a little differently. Timing is odd, but it's an overdue move than needed to be made

I'm pretty sure fredi was bobby coxs strong recommendation not necessarily wrens choice

And Cox has moved to the background too. Freddi was hired to coach a win now team. I guess he did ok... But things have changed. It's best to let him go about his way too instead of stringing him along the rest of the year.
