I never realized this until a few months ago when the Red Wings barely made the playoffs. As long as the Joe Louis Arena sells out... every game... Red Wings front office had ZERO CARE to make the playoffs. They have zero care to trade and get in the right personnel. When will the fans open their eyes? Detroit Lions did it for many years! People still went to 90% of their games.

Sell tickets... and balance budget. You get fired when you don't sell out games though. Society is stupid.

The Ford family looks like a bunch of geniuses. All along I thought they have no idea how to win in sports. They really never gave a damn. They knew football (NFL) trumped all sports... and they would eventually sell tickets.

Championships don't matter. Selling out 65,000+ 8 games a year does matter.
