Gennady "GGG" Golovkin takes on Dominic "Lights Out" Wade on Saturday night in what may wind up being one of the best fights of 2016.
The undefeated (34-0), knockout specialist (31 KO) Golovkin has dominated opponents with 21 straight knockouts dating back to 2008, the last time a fighter took him the distance. The unified WBA (Super), IBF, IBO and interim WBC middleweight champion, GGG at 34 is not boxing's "next big thing" because the Kazakhstani is already a must-see attraction.
It will be up to Wade (18-0, 12 KO) to stop GGG and strip him of his unified title. Whether the 26-year-old American is up to the challenge, of course, remains to be seen.

the books have it around the early to middle rounds. no one knows more than the books. realistically if golovkin comes out fighting like he should against a rookie, this fight shouldn't go over 3 rounds.

Kid was overmatched. Hopefully he gets in the ring someday against a fighter with a pulse. Middleweight division is not stocked with much in terms of talented fighters. A shame because GG is entering his peak years.
Oscar is in no rush to put his cash cow Alvarez in with him. Ward is too big and it makes little sense for Floyd to fight at anything higher than 150 max. Even at almost 40 years old, Floyd would be too smart and too fast for GG in the ring.
His manager needs to get him English lessons. Sounds like Borat.

He gets paid more boxing. Why would he make that move? He'll make a ton if Mayweather agrees to fight him, but I doubt he'd be stupid enough to take on GGG at this point of his career. Of course would love to see him and some Muay Thai fighters make the transition to MMA, they pay just isn't the same.

nobody is fighting 3g in boxing
everybody is dodging him. anyone legit could come up/down to fight/catch weight whatever...no one wants to fight him.
move to mma - force big names and big bouts for big cash.
maybe boxing and mma could promote together. it doesnt seem like he is making a ton of cash now

The fact is no one in the current structure of boxing has anything to gain from fighting him. It's the post-Mayweather era. Everything is about ducking and dodging now

no one is dodging golovkin. people don't realize that boxers have their careers made by their promoters. when a promoter signs a boxer their careers already have a path made before they even step in the ring. its the same with golovkin and all these boxing stars. golovkin has an undefeated record but the level of his record is average. andre ward challenged golovkin on the "everyone dodges me" and it was golovkin the one that didn't want to fight. thats how golovkin has avoided fighting top names in the division and will probably keep fighting dominic wades type boxers until he can get a fight against canelo so that he can make his name.
its the same with canelo, hes the middleweight champion and is fighting a boxer that is moving up in weight from lightweight. canelo can get away with this because he is the promoters ppv star. if golovkin wants to fight canelo he should fight someone like jacobs or quillin. this would really put pressure on canelo, public, and boxing federations to see golovkin as the divisions top contender.

GGG is already the top contender for the WBC belt that Canelo holds. They made an agreement that they would each have one fight and then meet in September for Canelo's belt. Hopefully both sides hold to end of their agreement (assuming Canelo beats Khan) and the fight happens is September. If it doesn't happen then you can label it a duck.

i meant it as having the reputation of being the undisputed top contender in the division. rankings in boxing don't mean anything if they did fights like canelo vs khan wouldn't be possible. and i highly doubt canelo vs golovkin will happen this year, its too much risk for canelo. he has never fought any actual middleweight boxers, he won the middleweight belt defeating cotto(welterweight) and is defending it against the weak amir khan(light-welterweight) and you are going to throw him against golovkin the next fight? its not going to happen. they are going to manage him carefully. and it'll depend on how he performs, might vacate before actually facing any top names in division.

Unfortunately you're probably right and they won't fight which would invalidate Oscar's "best fighting the best" routine.
