There's nothing better when you have great value on a long-term bet or parlay or something, and hedge on the other side to even it out and can just sit back and relax knowing you did the hard but right thing and are making money... Huge weight off your shoulders and you can crack a beer and simply watch a game to see if you win $250 or if you win $300. Definitely should have hedged, but hopefully a learning experience for him.

He's gotta have a friend or family member that he could tell "Give me $5k today and I will give you $5,500 in a week" easily, I think the guy was just very confident in UNC and wanted to go for the knockout, which is tempting but so foolish in my mind, even without 20/20 hindsight

Well that depends on what type of person he is. If he is a degenerate gambler and his family knows, no chance in hell. He might of got the urge to dump the 5k on some more tar heels action lol
