This was not like the Memphis Kansas finals where there was 3 seconds left and Derrick Rose gave Chalmers a contested shot despite Calpari instructing him to foul as soon as Kansas crossed the half court.

N.C. was on fire outside the 3 point line. You brief each kid on what to do.... every situation. If they drive immediately... play defense... but don't commit a foul. If they start handing the ball off and running a set outside the 3 point line... that took about 5 seconds off the clock. I'm fouling with 7.8 seconds to go. Puts N.C. at the line and they might miss one. Or might make both... regardless.... it's a 1 or 2 point game. I rely on my 83% free throw shooters. N.C. fouls me... might try for a quick trap. 1 second comes off the clock. 6.8 seconds to go. Depending if Villanova makes it a 3 point game or 2 point game at the foul line.... will decide what I do with 6.8 seconds again.

If up by 3.... foul North Carolina again. If up by 2.... I'll take my chances that they don't get a good look with that much time to go.

Just my opinion. If I'm a coach... I'm not letting a team beat/tie me and running a set for a 3..... with 15 seconds to go. Kids have to be smart enough to foul someone... with 7-8 seconds to go in the game.

I'm tired of seeing kids lose because of not playing "calculated percentages". Too many coaches let them play on.... and these kids are talented enough to hit 3 pointers in clutch situations.
