It's on: McGregor will fight Nate Diaz on July 9 in a rematch at UFC 200

Conor McGregor will get a shot at redemption after a lucrative rematch with Nate Diaz was confirmed for UFC 200.
The Irishman suffered a humbling, shock submission defeat by the American at UFC 196 earlier this month.
But it was confirmed on Thursday morning via UFC Tonight Twitter feed that the pair will battle once more on July 9.
It will be contested at the 170 lbs welterweight limit again, as the rivals collide in the main event at UFC’s landmark show in the newly-opened T Mobile Arena on the Nevada strip.

This. Now, it's Aldo vs. Edgar. Aldo already has a win over Edgar. Don't think this wasn't carefully planned by Conor, his management, & Dana. Now, we could see Conor lose again vs. Nate, then face Aldo again...once again, ducking Edgar. The intrigue will be seeing how Aldo responds after being broken. I hope Edgar starches him like he did Mendes.

The Conor/Diaz rematch is pointless regardless of who wins.

Agree. Just another huge payday for Conor. He's pulling for Aldo, so he can piggy back that huge payday (Conor v. Diaz) with Conor v. Aldo. Conor has openly talked about making a bunch of money quick & then getting out of the fight game. I just hope he has to fight Edgar before too long. This is a very boxing like approach in match making by Conor & the UFC. The UFC was always the anti-boxing as far as getting the "correct" matchups. This rematch with Diaz is just a money grab for everyone involved. Diaz should be fighting Dos Anjos or working towards Robbie. Conor should defend his 145 lb belt before he plays around with "super fights" or going up in weight at all. This UFC 200 is falling at a bad time. A lot of injuries so the UFC is just throwing together a bunch of fights (some intriguing, some not) to try and break records.

Doesnt Diaz have the leverage to fight at 155 lbs? Then from there Diaz fights Dos Anjos with a good hold on 155. Fighting at 170 means

McGregor has less to lose I guess. He can always say he is champ of guys his size but likes to fight bigger guys. And if he wins at 170 he is back in superfight $. Still would have thought Diaz would have some pull.

Conor made this fight happen. He probably told dana he would take the summer off if he didnt get the rematch.

I dont believe for 1 second that dana came up with this.

Yeah, definitely doesn't seem like a smart business decision at all. Conor can't even shit-talk to promote this fight becausee he already got finished in the first fight to a guy who wasn't even preparing for a fight.

I think Conor got lazy and he wont ever fight at 145 anymore. Just doesnt wanna drain himself anymore now that he finally have some money and enjoying the good life. I was really disappointed how fast he tapped last fight saying multiple times he fights to death in cage. Really just fight before we saw Holy went to sleep and he the second he gets hands around neck taps. He was being smart before but now i dont know time will tell me sth. i dont see atm i guess.

Conor wants to prove himself. If he loses again against Nate, his status will decline a lot. I think Nate should be the favorite though. It should be a good fight.

He looked so gassed with the extra weight yet still much smaller. Does he come in weighing less to go further? Its probably not possible for him to bulk up more for this one and have the energy. Not enough time for cardio and mass right?

def not, that was the problem the first time. I don't care if you train all day everyday like a pro, you can't put on muscle that quick AND be in decent fighting shape.

Anything under -150 on Conner is stealing.

I think this fight is interesting because Diaz can win it all 3 ways, while Conor can only get the KO. Diaz will be the more in shape guy and I just don't know if Conor can stay disciplined enough to wear down Diaz for 2-3 rounds and then get the finish

Only if McGregor took Dana's offer fighting at 155 instead of 170 in which he lost to Diaz, then McGregor would have a better chance of winning. 155 and 145 are his best weight classes.
