Baltimore Ravens cornerback Tray Walker died on Friday of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident near Miami, his agent said.
According to the Miami-Dade police department, Walker, 23, was riding a dirt bike when he collided with a Ford Escape sport utility vehicle on Thursday around 7:50 p.m.
Walker, who grew up in Miami, appeared in eight games for the Ravens, mostly on special teams, during his rookie campaign last season.
His agent, Ron Butler, said Walker was surrounded by friends and family when he was pulled off of life support around 5 p.m. Friday at the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. Butler said Walker suffered serious head injuries in the collision and never showed any brain activity after arriving at the hospital.
"I just wanted to say that Tray was an incredible young man and had a very promising career ahead of him," Butler told Reuters. "He will be missed."
Walker was a fourth-round draft pick out of Texas Southern University in 2015 and registered two tackles in his rookie season.
A wave of condolences flooded onto social media from his teammates and friends as news of his death spread.
"God called u home ... God bless ya soul and it was a blessing to experience ya beautiful heart homie," his teammate Jeremy Butler tweeted.
The Baltimore Ravens could not be immediately reached for comment.

I use to love motorcycles. I had 3 of them. After laying 1 down on the freeway, burying 2 cousins (neither wearing a helmet) within 90 days of each other and another friend 5 months later, I decided to never ride again.

Prayers with his family on a very tough time.

Butler said he didn't know his client even owned a dirt bike.

"I'm really hurt by the fact that it's another young man with a promising career that lost his life on one of these bikes," the agent told the Herald."Don't ride it in the street. Ride it off-road. Ride it in the dirt. That's why call it a dirt bike. And wear a helmet."

Bikes risk/reward not worth it. Don't matter how safe you are when half the people in cars can't even see you. Guy riding around in the dark like he was in a DMX video no doubt.

This is sad but why ride a motorcycle when you have all that money he had, he could have got a sports car and enjoyed life.

Had a serious motorcycle accident at 19.
Never got on a bike again.

Happy to be sucking oxygen on my own.

Keep that Detroit iron around you fellas.

I ride 8 months out of the year...wear my PPE...never get on the bike without it...and I've done it safely for 20+ years. When you choose to take risks and ride the way he did then things happen. PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) won't guarantee anything, but at least a helmet, gloves, boots, and vest might of kept him from bouncing his head off the pavement. Riding in the dark on a dirt bike in the streets is having a death wish...don't blame that on motorcycle riders, that's just poor decision making.
