Last week I rode a bunch of favorites to the pay window. Tonight I'm going take the hounds out for a walk.

DALLAS +5- at Charlotte. Charlotte's been red hot and the Mavs have been putrid. This line should be 8 or 9. I'll pay attention to the oddsmaker's wink and play the more desperate team.

CHICAGO +9 at Toronto. It's got to be matchup issues but for some reason the Bulls have taken all 3 games against the Raptors this year. I don't see them getting the win tonight but they should keep it close.

MEMPHIS +11- at Houston. The Rockets are simply not a team that blows people away. They play down the their competition. Another game where I will just be happy to see Memphis keep it close.

Bulls/Butler have Raptors number - Rose doesn't matter here....

Memphis is terrible but Houston is so fukkin dysfunctional its jekyl/hyde....

Of the 3 I have to say I like the Bulls the most.

Memphis got 3 D League players on 10 day contracts with one being the starting PG. You figure if Houston shows up they should win easy.

I played it this morning at William & Hill for +7 (-120). Was listed at +6.5 at time. Dropped now to +5

Charlotte has won 7 straight, Dallas has lost 5 straight. Heck they give 5 points to the home team in the NBA. That's why I thought the Hornets should be favored by more. But I'm betting as a contrarian here anyway, going with Dallas.

Got it. Actually, I can produce several forecasts ranging from Charlotte by 7 to Charlotte by 12 or 13 points. The lower number represents a more unsophisiticated, and even non-predictive line while the higher line would be considered more sophisticated and is indeed sharper.

The reason the line didn't get to 8 or 9 is that there are groups that seek Dallas for a variety of reasons, not always related to the forecasts. The oddsmakers tried to protect the books from these groups by opening with a lower line but those groups seem to be winning the battle.
