Social Security was originally supposed to be (essentially) an old widow fund that would give them a small financial boost for the last few years of their life. FDR signed it to be a small federal program, as supplemental income. Now it's a legit retirement program for many older citizens, and it's going bankrupt.

Originally, SS wasn't to be touched by congress. Guess what, they saw that nice big nest egg sitting over there
and said let's make it ours......the rest is history. Now they want you to work until you're 70. Fuk them.
