There's a profound difference between discussing politics, voting or peacefully holding a sign(participating in the political process) and screaming slang shit while someone is giving a speech, playing loud ratchet music on your phone and pushing/swinging on people(what these protesters keep doing). Apparently you've never been to a political rally/speech before or you don't pay attention to detail very well. The latter is called disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and/or assault. Which is illegal and the consequence is being arrested. That's not participating in the political process as you claim, that's called criminal behavior and being an idiot.
