EASY MONEY: Senate confirms any SCOTUS nominee +160 BEFORE Obama leaves office.
xxx-1 3/3/16 8:26am $x $x Pending 3/3/16 9:00am Politics Other Sports 1321 Senate confirms any SCOTUS nominee +160* vs No SCOTUS confirmation / no nominee
I just got on this at 5Dimes.

At +160 it should be an easy winner.
When Hillary wins in November (she is currently a 2 to 1 favorite), the senate will rush to confirm any reasonable nominee that Obama puts up - they have 2 and a half months before Obama is gone to do this. He has many options available (i.e., previous nominees to lower courts) that the Senate previously approved unanimously or nearly unanimously.

If you see anyone posting about political bets and they are emotional or partisan, you can be certain that those political bets are losers in the long run - it's just like betting your favorite teams games. I don't give a phukk about politics, if your comments are not about the bet but are political then start a new thread.

Interesting theory. Do you know all of the ins and outs of the senate sessions and rules? If they refuse to take it up at all before November 8th, is there really enough time then to hold hearings and confirm before 1/20/17? I'm just asking. I don't really know. And this also assumes that they don't hold hearings and reject a nominee.

You might be right. Tricky play.

This bet has been taken down, but if you see it again at decent odds, this sounds like a lock.

Agree. Republicans are pu$$ies and cave on everything. Obama outsmarted them by nominating and old white dude that helped cover up OK bombing

assuming Hilarity wins. I don't see any democrat having a chance in November after the last 8 years, especially if Trump is the republican they are facing.

Here's a novel idea for you = put your money where your mouth is: You can get better than 2 to 1.
But even if you put your entire liquid net worth on 'Hillary NOT to win the US Presidency', I still like my SCOTUS bet and a smart man would have tailed.

Lame duck presidents rarely ever get what they want from Congress, especially one controlled by the opposing party. That's a potential long time to tie up money for such a slight dog, even if it wins. If I wanted to make a political bet that tied my money up for several months, I'd bet into the Republican Presidency line at over 2 to 1 for something that's realistically more like a coin flip, especially this cycle.
