And I'm starting to backpedal a bit here. Oakland is NOT building a new stadium, and it's a wasteland of a city that the NFL doesn't want to be associated with. This is starting to have some legs. Not yet a pik, but +140 IMO.
Raiders looking into moving to Vegas

#37It's not the City of Oakland, it's the Raiders themselves. Nobody, including Vegas wants to work with the Raiders owner and management.Comment -

#38I don't want them here.
8 home games a year
It will cost the taxpayers a fortune.
I don't want my taxes going to that. We have enough problems here, in this city.
Look at Phoenix and the Cardinals.
That city is much bigger and they only sellout when the team is a divisional contender.
A major part of the Nevada workforce works on Sundays
Vegas will not use that stadium very much.W
will be a waste of moneyComment -

#39Personally, I'll never go to a game unless it's on a Monday night, after baseball season.
If I'm off on Sundays, I go to the sportsbooksComment -

#40I guess my wants are different. I'm a born and raised St. Louisan who doesn't have a team anymore. I don't need to attend many games, I'd just like to have a rooting interest (this draft felt weird since I had no horse in the race) in a local team. UNLV football is going to be good, but it's been a brutal ride so far.
If anything ever were to make it here, it would be football or NBA. Gotta find out at some point.
And my tax dollars go to way dumber shit right now than a football team I could actually get behind.Comment -

#42You guys are clueless. Do you really think that the Raiders give a crap whether ANYONE from Vegas shows up to their games? It cost about $85.00 round trip to fly from either the Bay Area or Los Angeles to Vegas. It takes about an hour or so. Those are the fans that will support the Raiders. The hotels will also use the Raiders to lure their High Rollers into town. You guys know little or nothing about Vegas.Comment -

Anyway, I was a season ticket holder with my dad from 2002-2006, and that 1999 season was magic. Can't take that away. But most of the fans that showed up to the games were old and not really into the team. They all wore khakis and shirts that weren't even Rams colors, and they would bring their wives. The stadium looked like shit too, the back walls in the upper deck were unpainted concrete like you have in your basement.
I knew we were in trouble.Comment -

#46Not sure what you're getting at. Because they were originally in LA? So the Lakers are Minnesota's team still?

#47i would think that if only one sports team goes to LV they will be pretty popular.
The spurs are great in San Antonio because SA has no other teams. They wait year around for basketball.
If not LV, find another large population base without any teams at all....Especially if you can come in and have a little success and get the city excited about your team.Comment -

#49I think a Hockey Team in Las Vegas will do very well. I think the building will be 1/2 full each game with the opposing teams fans. Look at all the colder weather cities Like Calgary, Edmonton, Buffalo, Winnipeg.Plus Fans of the Ducks and The Kings all waiting for a team to be placed in Las Vegas they will plan full trips around it. Even Me Las Vegas is like a second home and A January trip to see hockey in Vegas sounds good.55 Instead of -10 sounds even better.Comment -

#50Think how much could be made in juice with a sportsbook partnership where you could live bet between quarters, periods, inning etc at the concession standsComment -

#53That is true. Always make sure the closest teams (Phoenix, Cali teams, etc) come in on the weekend so that their fans can travel and make a weekend out of it.Comment -
