I live about 1 hour and 30 minutes from Flint. I'm just grateful I didn't drive anywhere near Flint to meet up with some POF bitches. Oddly enough... a lot of Flint women on POF looking to be saved. Most don't have a piss pot to pee in.Originally posted by newguyTMS - whats it like up there right now? Seriously? All the news talks about is how ****** Michigan is - residents feel that way? Of course there are news reports about the FLINT water crisis... but you don't get a good grasp on it until you truly think about it. That photo of the the brownish water in the sink (from Anonymous video) actually was taken at a Flint Hospital.
There was a couple of 18 wheeler semi trucks at a Home Depot parking lot earlier today in my area. The entire load is filled with bottled water from people donating. The load should be delivered later tonight or tomorrow morning.
It's nice that people have come together and donated bottled water. I don't know as a governor of a state you could lapse in judgement for a year... and let this slide. Sure we heard reports about this in Detroit... but you naturally figured it would be resolved promptly. I don't know what the hold up was? I don't know Flint's financial situation? Are they in bankruptcy like Detroit? Or close to it?
There were reports that Flint was getting there water years ago from city of Detroit's water supply. I don't know how true this is? Hard to believe a water supply runs 80 miles in one direction? Did Flint owe the city of Detroit money from unpaid water bills? A lot of businesses and home's are foreclosed in Flint. Owners walked away from their bills. Then, who pays the unpaid water bill? Flint apparently had no money? Then they decided to purify and make their own water system. Reports say... salt clogged up the filtration system? Who really knows what happened? Governor Snyder will more than likely blame this on a lack of funding. Had no other options. But... what is the REAL TRUTH?Comment -

#9Read about this a few weeks ago and it could have been easily prevented. They just needed to switch back to water from Detroit until Flint water line was repaired. The article said it would've cost about $100 a day to fix situation.
Governor and staff knew about problem and appears that they ignored it.Comment -

#17Apparently high levels of lead in public water supplies isn't a problem endemic to only Flint, MI, it's much more widespread. Read this article and check out the map at the bottom.

One of my good friends... always has a bottled water in his hand. Started drinking bottled water at the age of 18... he's about 35 now. We were shooting the sh#$ one day... and I said... we live in Michigan... we have the Great Lakes... why do you waste your money on bottled water 4-5 times a day? I guess I know why now. Refuses to drink from the tap anywhere he travels.
What's worse though? Lead from the tap? Or plastic from the bottle? Pick your poison apparently?Comment -

#20Personally I'd much rather run the risk of being exposed to BPA from the plastic bottles than other toxic substances such as lead, chlorine, PFCs, fluoride, prescription pill residue etc. that is commonly found in the public water supply. Much like your friend I also haven't drank tap water since I was about 18 when I discovered all of this.Originally posted by TheMoneyShotI really thought this anonymous was a real bad ass. #21There are several things you could do, it depends on one's location and ability to allocate resources to the project. You could find a spring near where you live and have the water tested and if it's good, then stock up there. In some places like California and Minnesota, there are like community springs set up where you can just come and take water for free that I've seen before. i'm lucky enough to have a relative nearby where I live that has a good spring on their property that I use.Originally posted by floridagolferThat's great, but if you're a couple with two or three kids, how do you live without using water from the tap?
If that's not an option you could look into a home rain catchment system. Look it up on a search or on YouTube there is plenty of info on it. There's always the option of setting up a home filtration system. These can be a bit pricey, I think a couple thousand dollars but it will purify all water coming into the home, even the showers, washing machine, dishwasher etc. so it's much more useful than those tap filters. Hope that helps some.Comment -
