#4Right now kickoff temperature is projected to be -1 degrees with a wind chill of -10 to -20.
Thats just brutal. This has running game and short passing game written all over it...both teams do both very well...and their defenses stop both very well.

#8There is absolutely no evidence supporting the myth that cold temperatures alone affect an offense enough to force them into a run heavy attack and/or short passes. Precipitation and high winds are another issue but don't fool yourself here.Originally posted by daneblazerRight now kickoff temperature is projected to be -1 degrees with a wind chill of -10 to -20.

#10Temperature and history if how teams do are pointless. That's like hey the baseball dodgers play better in day gsmes...or the islanders win more on Sat nights..lol. when lebron has steak in ny before a game he scores 40...has seafood they lose...way way too much nonsense.Comment -

Youre probably right...not many recent games this cold to look at. In the NFC title of 2008, both Driver & Burress had good games but neither team passed for more than 250 yards.
NFL games in the 20s and 30s happen fairly often, but 0 degrees is another level.Comment -

#13no evidence cold affects substantially passing game. Even if it does, advantage for seahawks, bridgewater, who is from Miami, doesn't have the arm of wilson who has big hands. seahawks have better running game because Wilson can run it too.Comment -

#14If Peterson is on his game, Minnesota can control the ball. Seattle is going nowhere unless they control the game, and I do not think they can. Now if they stop Peterson, that is a different story. I think the combination of Bridgewater/Peterson is better than Wilson/whoever Seattle wants to put back there. The points are a gift.Comment -

Waiting on a buddy trying to get his firms seats. It'd be 40yr line row 4. So I'll be braving the elements if he comes through.

#34Playoff games in Minnesota are supposed to be cold. The old Met in the 70's was great for playoff football, with games staring at noon at around 10 degrees. Then they moved into that indoor mausoleum and Viking playoff games just weren't the same. Next year, they'll be back in a dome, so enjoy this because you won't see a cold Vikings home game again (unless by some miracle they play the Packers or Redskins in the NFC championship). The Vikes actually wanted their new stadium to be outdoors, but the city wouldn't help pay for it unless it was a dome so they could lease it out for other sporting events. I don't fault the dollars and cents aspect, but they missed the mark since the Vikings true identity is cold winter football. Maybe I'm over romanticizing the Vikings/natural outdoor elements relationship, but it really feels like that's where they belong. At least the new dome will have some glass enclosures to let in some natural light. The Metrodome always looked liked it was a badly lit closet.Comment -

#35Playing any football game in these eelements does nobody any good..it's stupid. Fast forward to 20 yrs from.now all or most stadiums will have retractable roofs. Other 3 major sports play in climate controlled elements. Baseball usually a nice day. Frigid cold is stupid in 2015...would it be more entertaining for all to play this game in 40 to 60 degrees for all..rest my case.Comment
