Taking a knee is the same thing as when soccer players dribble into the corner and hold the ball at the flag

I think in NFL they should make a rule where you need to gain positive yardage or the clock stops in those situations....would make things interesting

The argument is that there is a receiver in the area. Same argument on every other possible intentional grounding. It's why running backs line up close and always a te.

As for European sports I don't watch much soccer but have seen many a flop in soccer to kill time.

I've seen guys turn around and ground it...which is basically a lateral. Refs won't call it though for whatever reason.

Rule was changed years back to allow the quick spike. Net result is virtually the same, team is sacrificing a down. They just don't lose the half yard or so (spot of the foul). Better than pretending when everybody and his mother knows what's going on.
