Ooh. That's extremely interesting. Although if you liked the Houston under, surely you like the game under?

I usually stop betting at the last 3 weeks of the NFL as some teams will rest players for the playoffs.

I think Pitt is the best play today. Baltimore has given up. They have gotten thumped the last two weeks and I feel this will continue. Pitt isn't great, but they are going to put up points and Baltimore will make enough mistakes for Pitt to cover. Oh yeah....one more thing....Ryan Mallett is going to start.

Some teams give up. Like it or not. It's square to ignore this critical factor.
Look at what the Patriots did.

After years of betting the NFL the best rules are never to bet during the pre season and never to bet in the last few weeks of the regular season due to teams resting players for the playoffs.
Don't be a square JJ by betting every game.

I disagree. After years of betting on many sports I've found that opportunities can arise at any stage of the season, be it pre-season, post-season, or at the start or the end of the regular season. Having rules in place that restrict betting to one particular time of the season limits the opportunities. Sure, teams will have motivational issues at certain times of the season, but by knowing your sport you can use these to find good betting spots. I think success in this game depends on waiting for the good bets to present themselves (and being able to recognise them) rather than looking for bets in all or most games on a week to week basis during the regular season.
I heard a guy on Gil Alexander's podcast the other day say that Carolina was a great fade this week based on all his years of watching NFL, handicapping lines, results and scores, against a team with nothing to lose and revenge as a strong motivator, and it was a good example of someone using his years of experience to spot a good bet. It's worth a listen to because he does a good job of explaining how all the years of absorbing information can lead to spotting some good confident wagers.
These bets can present themselves at any time and it's vital that punters have the resources available to take advantage when they do present themselves. Bookies would get killed if we all had the discipline to only bet at these times. Unfortunately too many punters lost their bankroll yesterday on the latest SBR Lock Of The Day and won't be able to take full advantage of tomorrow's great opportunity on the Bronco's game (should it arise).
