I really must just know nothing about football bc this looks like a 10 win team tonight and they handed Mich St their only loss....its just weird they are just destroying UCLA...and keep in mind I'm one of those that doesn't even think 5 win teams should be in any bowl but the toilet bowl

Good call after I watched ucla quit after getting beat up by Stanford I should have seen this coming. If Nebraska ran the Option like this with Armstrong instead of having him throw so much they'd have more wins. Cornhuskers easily could've had 3 or 4 more wins this season. Week 1 they lost on that ridiculous hailmary to BYU after controlling the entire game. The same BYU who was down 35-0 to Utah last week in their bowl game and who lost to Mizzou on a neutral field, one of the worst offenses in the country and by worst I mean they scored 13 or fewer points in 8 of their games this season.
Then they played sloppy games @ Illinois and against Wisconsin where they lost by 1 and 2 points respectively back to back weeks. Lost to Northwestern by 2 points and only lost to then undefeated Iowa by 1 score. Much better than advertised team. Probably should've won 8 or 9 games this season.
Sometimes you get bad breaks. Kicker misses a FG or 2 that would've won a game here, lose on a hailmary there, stuff like that is how a team that beat Sparty and hung with then undefeated Iowa, only racked up 5 wins on the season.Comment -

Nebraska was fortunate enough to play the biggest quitting team in the Pac 12. UCLA is now 1-4 in bowl games AFTER a loss to USC. That is because after a loss to USC, UCLA has a tendency to quit as a team. They also have a tendency to quit as a team in year 4 of a Head Coaches tenure. Nebraska has a tradition to live up to. Won those 5 games by a total of 28 points. I give them credit for winning those games but it is not like they would win all 5 of these games every time if they played the season over - and there certainly could be years where a team could lose all 5 of those kind of games - but, this year they got it done. It is my opinion that Iowa was not as good as their record and Nebraska was not as bad as their's - but that's football.
Nebraska proved that they deserved the chance to play in a bowl game. Now, Iowa gets their chance to show the bookmakers that a 12-1 team should not be a 7 point dog to a team that played a 1 point game to a team that Nebraska just beat.Comment -

Iowa's right where they belong...they lost one game all year...by 3 to MSU who's in the playoffs and got beat by Nebraska who Iowa did beat. Do I think Iowa's better than Nebraska...yes....do I think Nebraska is better than a 5 win team...yes. I'll go along with that - Iowa got a break in that they did not have to play Ohio State or MSU in the regular season. I am looking forward to the Stanford/Iowa bowl game. It is a bit frustrating for a team that has the potential to be pretty good and can't quite win the close ones. Then on a good year - the pieces seem to fall in place and the big plays get made at the right time. Pros as well. Stanford is probably a little frustrated they let those two games get away.Comment -
Here's the thing...before you unload on Stanford remember that you me and the rest of the world know if they play all out they will beat Iowa...but for them being outside the playoffs given their skill and golden ticket schedule has got to be a huge letdown...trust me no one at Stanford is pumped up to be playing Iowa....meanwhile it would be as good a result as Iowa could almost imagine (outside of beating MSU and getting in the playoffs) to knockoff Stanford and win this game bc lets face it Iowa wasn't going to beat Alabama in the playoffs anyway so they might as well go balls out against Stanford and end their season with a big bowl win and 13-1 season...for them huge win for Stanford win or loss who caresOriginally posted by BuckyOneComment
