I'll answer first and say that I do it more recreationally than to make a ton of money.
I love college basketball and enjoy analyzing teams and matchups and sharing insight here.
I like the fact that I can also make some extra money doing so.
I'm not trying to make a killing or a living here, but extra money is always good.

if i don't make 50k+ per year betting on sports, it was a bad year...

There is no goal. I enjoy doing what I do. Sports betting is just one logic problem at a time. I realize most are idiots who just randomly bet Team A because they looked good on TV the other night or they really like Star Player A or some other dumb shit, but I enjoy digging into the nuts and bolts of match-ups and seeing if what I hypothesize comes true. I'm not a huge bettor dollar wise because I don't really have to be to enjoy the grind. Most sports I wouldn't consider myself a consistently winning bettor, but I'm awful at record keeping and I haven't ever lost my shirt so to speak, so who knows.

My goal is when I reach a point where I know I can STAY disciplined after losing a few and not go on full tilt. Until then I consider myself an addict that keeps relapsing .. lol. I've always achieved the biggest goal, that is to use this as a hobby that does not affect day to day life. Otherwise if you don't, you shrivel up and look like like penetrating Goldie.. a Home Alone/Joe Pesci wannabe impersonator.
