I question what living in the limelight does to your brain. Loses a lot of his privacy, for sure.
I remember that he fought w/ Dean DeLeo on stage in the middle of a concert. The other STP members must have been pissed, when he checked out into rehab.
I'm sure he lived 10x the life most of us could dream of.

Probably heroin, or coke + an enlarged heart.
I use to be a big fan of STP, but also shocked Scott lived this long.
These things come in three, so I'll just assume Bob Dylan is 2nd or 3rd in line now to meet his maker.

I remember during one of his rehab stints where he snuck out and called an LA radio station from a pay phone at McDonalds

Gummo, I'm not gonna one to judge.
Maybe he got 90% of his talent out of him. Good singer and talented front-man. But that also goes w/ being in the spotlight all the time.
I thought he was talented and a good listen.

really liked STP when they came out, still have a few of their songs on my classics play list
maybe he'll pull a Lamar Odom, and rise from the dead..... tho scott might not have been as lucky as Lamar.... Scott may have only had a defibrillator, whereas Lamar was reportedly waken from his "death slumber" by the caustic, revolting odors being qweefed from his fatass wife Khloe's rancid va-jay-jay into his face......... shocked him back to being alive (and burned all the hair and skin (only a few layers), off his body).....

I believe 80% of all musicians lack logic... but gifted 100% with a creative aspect.... with this comes substance abuse... and they don't want to be in REALITY 24/7. Cobain for example... UNREAL TALENT... but lost the touch of reality one night.
Never knocked Weiland with his substance abuse... they all do it.
But for anyone who never gave Stone Temple Pilots a chance.... listen to the album Core and Purple. Just 4 amazing musicians.... combined. Take either one away from the equation.... and they sound regular. Could never do it on their own... they needed each other.

GOAT, I'm not judging.
If we wiped away drugs from all around the world, we would have extremely boring music and movies and other entertainment. Drugs and excessive are just part of the wave for some.
I'm a big Scotty fan. I've seen him live three times.

Heard he was a shell of his former self w/ STP over the summer - mumbling lyrics, etc. That said he left us some great work from the early days - RIP Scott...

Wasn't implying that, Gummo. Was just commenting. We take a guy as a whole, the good and the bad.
RIP, Scotty.

Very sad. Shocked he made it out of the 90s honestly...unlike the Shannon Hoons, Kurt Cobains, and the Bradley Nowells of the world.

Very sad to hear. Big STP fan. Saw that he was going to be in Dallas next weekend pretty close to my house. Was considering going even though I had prior commitments. Guess I don't have to worry about that.
Couple of great songs already listed, but some others were Down, Interstate Love Song, Creep and Vasoline. Also, Loving the Alien from Velvet Revolver is and
awesome song.
RIP Scott!

Sad news. Alice in Chains and STP were 2 of my favorite bands Of all time.
Now both the guys that drive those bands are dead. Wow.
The Big Empty one of my fave tunes of all time.
