Any real winners here? I work with a few guys claiming to win every week. They challenged me to NFL or NBA so I'm thinking about depositing a little money into fan duel to play a few games. I just didn't want to lose all my money in a few days.

What's the best way to cash head to head 50/50? On fanduel I see a lot of the same people under head to head. I guess these are the "sharks" looking to take all of my money

I won two moonshots last season at DK in baseball.
I've won multiple 100 team cash games in NBA
I can post stats from DK and FD to back up my claims if you want.
NBA is the easiest to beat, look for rock bottom priced Alex Len types that normally get 18 minutes a game start and get 33 minutes a game.

I've cleared over 6 figures this year. Most people here like to bash it without ever trying it or cuz they put in $20 and were surprised when they didn't win a million. I wouldn't listen to those people.

I won first place in a Draftkings MLB tourney this past summer for a good chunk of change.
I'll be the first one to say that it was 99% luck. For example, one of my guys was caught stealing late in the tourney for -2 points. The call was challenged, reviewed and subsequently overturned. So i went from -2 to +5 just on that sb. That swing in points netted me 50k alone.
So much random stuff like that happened. I only entered one lineup in this tourney and basically everything has to go right for you in that scenario for you to win big money. Lucky for me, I was on the right side of luck that day.

How?
Just by playing tournaments? Or do you grind it out in 50/50s?
Did you have to pay major taxes?

You pay taxes just like you would on any other income. They 1099 you, so at the end of the year you just add it to your income. If it bumps you up to a higher tax bracket, you'll pay more on all your yearly income.
I hit 16k on draftkings so ill have that on this years income tax.

it is some skill at gambling court rulings and regulation will drastically change DFS soon

I played some heads up but most of it came from tourneys. Probably had ten or so 10k+ wins. Probably another twenty in the 1-10k range. Then the rest is trying to grind out at least a minimum cash on a fairly consistent basis
I paid taxes last year but it was a lot less than what I'll have to owe this year

Agree..The majority of high $$ winner have created algorithms to run usually 100+ lineups per contest.
@johnnyD4916
If you are just getting into DFS, I'd suggest Draft Kings "Beginner" contests. Also, it's nice to be able to change your lineup up until kickoff with a last minute player. On Fan Duel, once you set your lineup and the first game begins you cannot change your lineup. Stick with cash to start off, to get a taste of DFS. Stay away from the head-head games, unless it's someone you know. Sometimes, it's a trap play against sharks.

Depending on Cash or GPP..with GPP on DK, some nights you need 275pts or better to place in that GPP. Usually, the 1st Place winner has over 300pts. You can win a cash around 250 pts. Again, try the beginner leagues on DK to start off with in DFS. You can play .25 GPP in the standard NBA, and a beginner at the same time to judge the difference in points.

Have won about 14k on fanduel in the last 1.5 years. Most on NBA. About 1k on NFL.
I never enter multiple lineups. NBA is all about matchups.
Most of the "sharks" you guys are talking about just look at stats like X team allowed this many fan pts to SGs per game. Also like Nash said they look for guys expected to start that are normally bench players.
These guys are not sharks at all. They enter 100 lineups like you say and are lucky to hit like 4 of them. And mostly they never take top 5. These guys just enter enough so that they can make a nice little profit every day. They're not banking 20 grand a day in the featured tournaments, I guarantee that.
It's all about matchups. Just because say a guy like avery bradley or something gave up 38 pts to Klay Thompson doesn't mean he'll gonna get dominated by say CJ Mccolum or something. Two different players. Different styles. Just an example.
NFL is really all about luck to be honest. Touchdowns are huge. You can't really predict TDs, you can predict yards and stuff, but TDs make or break you. Basketball is not like that obviously.

@GoatMilk I agree with your comment on NFL DFS. Yes, it increases your odds of winning when you have multiple lineups in the same contest 50+. I agree it's not skill, however those guys are still considered sharks because of their high bank roll and skill in knowing which GPP or Cash they have the best odds of winning. It's one of the reasons why I don't like to play a $1/$2 50/50. Because when a team has $100 in one of those contests if you only have 1 or 2 lineups, if you are off a point you can end up losing.
How do you like FD NBA, compared to DK? Also, are the point structures the same in FD and DK for NBA? That's one reason why I didn't like FD, because of the .5ppr in NFL.
