If they suspect a refugee is a radical then why not educate and deradicalize them?

As we witness yet again the brutal and bloody consequences of religious intolerance in the form of ISIS, we have a majority of Republicans pining for a Christian America. Proponents of converting the United States into a theocracy do not see the terrible parallel between religious excess in the Middle East and here at home.

#23Schafer my condolences to the death of reason in your country...
I get the appeal to god during the civil war (in times of desperation people will look for anything to believe in) but damn you can see the level of manipulation and misinformation that has been spread about what the founding fathers interpretation of the constitution was.
Its crazy to think that as little as just 170 years ago your country was secular.
Now have a new found level of dumbness for those like sarah palin and other people whos beliefs hold them blind to reason...Comment -

#24Religion only is good for causing war and holding us back from real progress. For instance...climate change is real, and stem cell research can help so many people. Women have a civil right to choose, and gays have the civil right to marry...just as much as minorities have the civil right to equality and women have the civil right to vote. It's "religulous" that the separation of church and state is simply ignored these days...Originally posted by ACoochySchafer my condolences to the death of reason in your country...

#30More than welcome down here in New Zealand. I can see how some Americans don't want them though, you guys have to remember they're checked and I'm going to guess very thoroughly in Americas case. It's not like the EU and anyones flooding in (illegally it must be said but it's hard to stop a mass mob from pushing through.
Some people need a bit of humanity, you have to realise they're escaping the same people that are causing this whole mess. I've said it before here no innocent civilian deserves to live in the conditions that are currently going on over there it's tragic.Comment -

#31Absolutely.
1) We kinda did help cause this
2) Stop with the terrorism nonsense. You people are genuinely fukking stupid. They don't need to live here to be able to do whatever damage they want to do. No legit terrorist is sitting in the Middle East saying "man, I would love to suicide bomb the shit out of the US, but I can't find a way to get over there." ISIS will get them here, they've already done it. Any one of them that really wanted to do harm would just get here through Mexico. The cartel du jour would probably even arm them and fund their trip.
3) Just be nice to them, and show them some porn for once in their lives. They will have ZERO reason to terrorize a country like that. Heaven on earth.
4) Syrian women can be SMOKING hot. Cross-breed them one time, and you're gonna have frickin pageant winners wherever they end up.
5) Think of the new cheap labor! I could hire a Syrian dude for like $4/day to be my bodyguard, tell me stories and cook some kibbeh. I'm gonna call him Rodney.Comment -

2) Again true, their goal is to radicalise those that are already there in most cases anyway.
3)........... pretty funny though
4) Agreed, since Iran seems to be more relaxed on the the full kit for women now and there's some beautiful women!
5) Sadly very true the people that get in will be insanely over qualified for the work they end up getting and that goes the world over.

Sounds good right?
Well the conditions are almost jail like and once processed it costs more to keep them in detention per year than it would transport them to the mainland, emigrate them into the community, give them free housing and free university education in training them to become doctors so that they can have the opportunities to give back to the community.
Arrogance is such a harmful trait to have...Comment
