Volquez is 31 yrs old and is a happily married man with twin daughters. Its not like he's 8 yrs old. This news probably has no effect on him professionally. In fact, I bet he arranges the funeral so that he wont miss his next start.

I don't care how old or mature somebody is, losing a father could easily get on somebodies head and give them trouble concentrating. A pitcher especially needs that concentration imo.
