I heard on ESPN last night... I think it was Sports Center... someone said he was taking the year off. Then he said get well soon Flip! In a very nice and positive way!

Then... this morning... the man is dead.

Does anyone know how long Flip had Cancer for? Seemed like he was practically dead within months???

Not very long publicly. But privately it could have been eating his ass up for years. Cancer is a monster to deal with. The ones I feel the worse for are those that say that it is in remission and it comes back and slices them in half even worse on the rebound.

Gene Upshaw was feeling bad on a Thursday. His wife told him to go to the doctor, which he refused. That Friday he felt worst, went to the doctor, cancer was spread all over his body, he was dead that Sunday. Very unreal.

This should get more press then the Lamar Odom incident but it didn't..

There is a good chance I wouldn't have even know he died if it wasn't posted on this forum.. I didn't hear one report about Flip dying in the TV news to date.. I'm sure ESPN covered it but I didn't see it.. Not the case with the drug overdosed Lamar Odom story..

The difference is L.Odom is a reality tv star, and that makes anything that happens to him a more juicy story. That Kardashian girl dropped him after the Clippers quit on him. Now he's back in the press she's back in the marrige. Sad but true.
