The average for CG for this season in MLB is 3. CHI has 6 total. Arrieta has 4 of those. I don't think it is out of the question for it to happen.

No manager these days is going to allow his starter to go 9 full very often during the regular season. 4 was tied for MLB lead. This game is just a different animal. And so is Arrieta. If he needs to go 130, he'll do it.

Anyone remember Curt Schilling for the D'Backs in '01. He went 22-6 that season (sound familiar? same as Arrieta's record).

He went on to 3 CG's in the playoffs and the WS MVP.
