So, not quite ready to move, and not necessarily LA, but certainly SoCal.

We really like Manhattan Beach, Hermosa and Redondo as well. Considering San Diego. Topanga Canyon a possibility as well.

Anyone have input on San Diego vs. LA?

    Thx

Never been to Rnacho Cucamonga, but I have a feeling it's quite nice. Also love Calabasas, up in the Canyons. Just a quick 10 minute drive and you're down on the PCH and some of the finest beaches. You been visiting Kim Kardashian, damn I gotta be PoTM just one time....

Currently in San Diego, the more towards the border the more ghetto. Downtown is fun, beaches have great waves and eye candy. Rent still kinda high at least for me but I live in nice area

Love the beach scene Harry. Ready for sun year round. We're big fans of Manhattan Beach, probably are fav spot so far but we haven't been around San Diego much

Maybe try to go this winter

We just figure rents gonna be high no matter what, so thats not a deal breaker.

Rent is high up here in Seattle and I can make probably 30-40% more in Cali

Rancho Cucamonga is the IE and while nice, is way too hot for me. Super tight butthole if you're into suburbia. Grew up near Calabasas and used to drive the canyons to Zuma, County Line, Leo Carillo, etc. Still too hot for me though. If you move the the South Bay you can come over for a BBQ.

San Diego - I would live in North County if I moved there. Carlsbad/San Marcos has a lot of new new development that's nice and reasonable for So Cal.

I'm trying to get back to Santa Barbara/SLO personally but it's too far from a major airport for the travel I need to do.

Try Encinitas, Leucadia, and Solana Beach. Price is high but you won't get into so much traffic like you will in the LA county. Good luck, Kraken.

Between Santa Barbara and San Diego is some of the nicest land and climate in the world, tough to go wrong. A little partial to the West LA area myself (not West Hollywood, lol) but anywhere near the coast, like you said, near Redondo and Manhattan is not bad. San Diego has a lot to offer.

                                  Good Luck Kraken.

teaser makes a good point. It seems, in general, the farther north you go the nicer, more easy going the people tend to be. People in some of the beach towns are a little more laid back, but teaser is right about the traffic.

Well Cali sounds great but I hear you have to be good looking, make 6 figures just to live in a one room condo, full fledged vegan with a side of GNC protein shakes etc. Eliminated me but I hope you enjoy it

Check out Salton City, right on the Salton Sea. Great fishing and beach.

Hermosa Beach is the place to live out here in SoCal IMO.. It's a great little laid back beach town that isn't tainted by the big city or movie star glamor.. Cool place to live, beach bars, cool easy laid back night life, etc.

Still close enough for a short drive to LA, Malibu, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, etc. Rents are a little cheaper then other beach towns in Hermosa also but it's still bank. Last I checked small dumpy one bedroom apartments are like $1200- $1500 inland a bit.. Roommate situations are the way to go for most young people trying to save in rent and starting off.. To own a house you have to be a millionaire...

Good luck hope that helps and I hope you have a good income if you decide to make the move... Been in this area my entire life.. SO Cal you can't beat the weather.. Best entertainment year round and there's always something to do for all walks of life.. 75 degrees year round on average..

LA is getting expensive. Lot of young people moving in and buying homes. Prices are way up here in shitty areas. Gentrification at its fines. SD is a great town, such a chill place, but I live in LA and I dont want to move anytime soon!

Grew up near Calabasas and used to drive the canyons to Zuma, County Line, Leo Carillo, etc. Still too hot for me though. If you move the the South Bay you can come over for a BBQ.
