Just don't get stoopid betting on your favorite team or chasing lost money by making dumb bets on the afternoon games. Also, limit the # of your bets. Many ways to make $$$.

My top rules for sports betting:

1. Money management. Bet less than 5% of your total current bankroll per bet. Use Kelly Criterion Calculator. Be discipline.


For example:
If your total bankroll is $2000.
5% of your $2000 is $100.
If you lose your $100 bet, now you have $1900.
5% of your $1900 is $95.
Now you bet $95 instead of $100 because of your total current bankroll has changed.
Bet like this and you can either slowly gain or slowly lose but can never be completely broke.


2. Be a strategic gambler by picking your spots and wait for the right opportunity. Never be a compulsive gambler by betting because it's your favorite team or for the action. Do your research.
3. Stay emotionless all the time. Bet like a robot. There's no place for emotions in this profession. Be unbiased.
4. Do not judge a team based on what they did last week.

5.If you are extremely compulsive, arrogant, drunk and biased. The best advice is to "Don't Gamble".

I'm in 3 pools. In all of them over 65% of the players are winning. These first 3 weeks have been very much down main street. The books have taken a beating. If you are a contrarian you probably are taking a beating too. The books will catch up so don't keep thinking betting the Pats, Packers, Denver, etc is the road to riches. There will be a correction. It's like everyone is forgetting that:

Steelers covered on opening night

Both dogs won on Monday night week 1

Denver won as a dog on Thursday night week 2

Jets won as a 7 point dog on Monday night week 2

The jags and Raiders both won in week 2


But yeah it has been pretty easy so far. Especially for the ML parlays.
