the answer is how someone interprets the question...If "How many left" is being asked in question form, then the correct answer is 3...however, if "How many left?" in complete sentence form meaning literally how many altogether, then the answer is 7 because there are still 7 cows left!........Kind of reminds me of the old joke...you tell any person... "How long is a Chinaman"...they usually say..."HUH?" or "I don't know"...and then repeat it again..."How long is a Chinaman"....they say "I don't know!!!"...and then you deliver the punch line...it's not a question, it's a person!..."How" is the guys first name and "Long" is the guy's last name and he is of Chinese descent!...hence, How Long is a Chinaman!......it's all up to interpretation...don't think of it as a question but rather as a statement!...
