Yankees in Trade talks with Alrodis Chapman and Craig Kimbrell
I guess they are trying to give the Royals bullpen a run for their money.

already got 2 decent arms in Andrew Miller and Betances

The Yankees identified a blueprint worth following last October when they watched the Royals win an American League pennant on the strength of a lockdown bullpen. It is a model they hoped to emulate, and largely that plan has succeeded so far. As Friday's 4 p.m. ET non-waiver Trade Deadline approaches, the Yankees are said to be weighing the appeal of adding Padres closer Craig Kimbrel to a late-inning mix that already features a pair of premium arms in Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances.
ESPN reported that both the Yankees and the Astros spoke overnight with San Diego about the 27-year-old Kimbrel, who has reached the 30-save plateau in each of the last five seasons.
According to the report, the Yankees would be willing to pick up the approximately $27 million remaining on Kimbrel's contract, but are not budging on dealing their top prospects. It has also been reported that the Yankees have spoken with the Reds about left-hander Aroldis Chapman and with the Marlins about right-hander Carter Capps.

i hope it doesn't happen. I hate the yankees. They think they can just buy a championship team but there is a little more to it than that.

      gotta have team chemistry.

I can't believe they still let CC start games, or pitch at all for that matter.

              Team 2015 Payroll
              1. Los Angeles Dodgers $272,789,040
              2. New York Yankees $219,282,196
              3. Boston Red Sox $187,407,202
              4. Detroit Tigers $173,813,750
              5. San Francisco Giants $172,672,111
Yankees aren't exactly trying to buy a championship. The Dodgers are. The Yankees overpaid, extended contracts all come off the books within the next 2 years and they are refusing to deal their prospects.

Yankees aren't going anywhere. Their best hitter is 40 and they are too left handed. Dbacks looking to get Chapman.

                  if that happens....

maybe a wild card spot is obtainable?

No. Larussa planning for the future. My guess would have been a trade and sign. Will have to grab him in FA now. Lots of young talent. Shipley, Bradley, + a few others in the minors. Dbacks will be great in 2-3 years.

Yanks finally learning to hold on to top prospects.
Padres wanted SS prospect Mateo in any trade for Kimbrel.
Looking forward to seeing Severino pitch against the Red Sox early next week.

gotta know when to hold and know when to fold

the Yankees lack of effort to improve the team before the trade deadline will probably cost them the division.

The Yankees are now the Blue Jays bitch.

If Yanks play .500 ball Jays would have to go about 14 games over rest of season
Tough task but they do have a bunch of games left between each other.
I think Severino will be a big addition to that staff.

When you read the stories of the Padres GM and their asking price etc. for Kimbrel and Co. dude is crazy. Now he's talking they still believe they're in the hunt...they will have to go somewhere around 41-19 the rest of the way to even have shot.

                                    Thats a good point.

hmmm i do think the Yankees are very capable of playing .500 ball the rest of the way...

any chance they get anyone good from the waiver wire?
