Independent League to have computer call balls and strikes tonight. Like or dislike?

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) — No blaming or booing the umpire for a questionable called third strike this week in a Northern California independent league.The human element that many in baseball appreciate will be absent during an experiment for a pair of games. A computer will call balls and strikes as the home plate umpire handles all of his other regular duties.

I'm interested to see how it goes. I have no issue with getting rid of an umpire for balls/strikes or any other reason. Everyone complains when their team gets stiffed by a bad call by the umpire, so the whole "human element" garbage can go away.

Strikes should be strikes, balls should be balls. I'd be interested to see how some of the big name pitchers regressed when they stop receiving wide strikezones, and how some of the weaker pitchers would start to succeed more because they weren't being squeezed against All-Star hitters (who are, obviously, harder to pitch to in the first place)

I think it might be a very good idea as there's too much inconsistency which strikes zone and umpires

i think they should make it like tennis. something like all players have one challenge during a game.

Should have prob been computerized, but purists won't let that happen. Sucks when umps make bad calls.

I think the only way to see them is to get the MiLB TV package. Even then no guarantee.

I am for it - hope it works out. There is no place in baseball for opinionated umpires. Expanded strike zones when somebody gets up 5-0 is BS. I am for having the computer grade the umpires performance and fire all umpires under 97% accuracy from the first pitch to the last. Even with that - I like the idea of one challenge by the catcher per game - get it right and you keep your challenge alive, etc.

Bring this system in baseball and the sport will become more global popular, no one wants to watch 3 hours a game where the umpire cant even call a strike or a ball it ridiculous
