Typically I love watching golf on TV, particularly the Majors. I find it soothing. This course though is very tough on the eyes. Brown fairways, jaundiced greens, more sand than the Sahara. Way too much contour. Bumpy greens. No defining lines between fairway and rough, or even fringe and greens. Even high-def TV can't save it. Putrid!

#2I like it... has a real rustic feel to it, very dangerous course.
so many players don't like the greens... i like that too !!!
these guys take their 1000% perfect greens for granted.. plus often the
fairways are so short they are like fringe anywhere else..
go to your local public course... pro golfers would struggle on the greens
because they can't work with any imperfections.Comment -

More interesting than the average links course though.Comment -

#6I've been a PGA professional for 25+ years and I agree that it is ugly. There's a big movement for more "Brown" courses around the country to conserve water and help the environment. You are going to start to see a lot more like this one in the near future.Comment -

#8Agree 1000%. The USGA's ego is out of control.
Starting with that dork chop who sets up the courses.
It will get the lowest ratings in 10 years.Comment -

#10The announcers said that the players will walk a minimum of 10 miles each day with a hill climb equal to the height to the Space Needle. That seems a bit extreme. No wonder Jason Day got vertigo and passed out on the course. Too much contour.Comment -

#11I love golf and I'm happy that they brought the US Open to the beautiful Pacific Northwest. But this course seems gimmicky. I'd quit the game if I had to play Chambers Bay as my home course.Originally posted by BigOrangeI've been a PGA professional for 25+ years and I agree that it is ugly. #13You said it JJ. F-ing dog track! USGA and Mike Brown (dork chop) screwed up the set-up as well. Changing the par on 2 different holes the first two days was utterly idiotic. This will go down as worst US Open in history.Comment -

#14Gary Player just ripped the course for 2 min straight on the golf channel live.
Omg he was great!
"the most unpleasant golf tournament I have ever seen in my life"
"Whoever designed his place must have had one leg shorter than the other"
"I've never seen so many players that missed the cut so happy to be going home"
"It's actually a tragedy"
"You don't bring majors to golf courses like this, this is devastating"
Case closed by the hall of famer!
