#11Kobe Bryan's on his last leg -- the upcoming season will be his last in the purple and gold ... according to Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak.
Kupchak was on SiriusXM NBA radio when he dropped the mild bombshell -- saying that Kobe "has indicated to me that this is it" ... referring to the 2015-16 NBA season. Everyone knew this was the last year of Kobe's Lakers contract, but some fans held out hope he could keep it going for another season.
But Kupchak said, "There have been no discussions about anything going forward. I don't think there will be. He hasn't indicated that he wants to continue to play."
It's unclear if he meant retiring from the Lakers -- or from the NBA altogether -- but the GM isn't guaranteeing Kobe will hang 'em up just yet. Kupchak admitted that in a year this could all change.

#14It is all a crock of shit...LOL........The organization wants him to quit..which is why they floated the idea of hiring Thibodeau...Byron Scott is Kobe's sock puppet...and getting him out of there might entice Kobe to leave...Lakers trying to send out a message to free agents that Kobe will be gone...but it wont happen...Kobe will guilt trip Jeannie into resigning for another 20 mill....Originally posted by SeaweedInside sources say he said "this is it"Comment -

#15Very curious to see what the highest bid would be for an ancient Kobe.Originally posted by TwoWaysHe is an unrestricted free agent next year. Will test the market for highest bidder I'm sure
If I was a NBA GM... Max I'd give Kobe would be 6 million. Quite possibly some team might give him as high as 7.5 million. But, just like a poster said above.... Kobe needs to understand his role and he doesn't. Personally... I think Kobe will retire after the season is over. The guy probably would make 6-7.5 million a year in endorsements alone.... right?
I mean Michael Jordan makes a sh#$ load of money on endorsements.... 100 million if I'm not mistaken? And the dude hasn't played in a very long time. Crazy.Comment -

#19If Kobe leaves the Lakers it will only be for Chicago or New York, you can bet on it.
I'm betting Chicago because when Kobe was last a FA, he almost signed there and now Pau is there and it's the most complete team that could win a championship.Comment -

#25Mitch Kupchak said that Kobe will not be a factor when they make their #2 pick. “We’re not going to pick a player because he can play with Kobe, likes Kobe or dislikes Kobe,” Kupchak told Los Angeles News Group. “We’re going to pick the player that can have the longest and best career.”Comment -

#30Imagine him playing for the Bulls, or better yet the Cavs! Have him come off the bench, play maybe 20 minutes a night, mostly in the second half and let him finish the game. It saves his knees, keeps him fresh, and he gets to be sixth man of the year! I agree he has too much ego to do that but in a perfect world he would snap up that opportunity in a minute.Comment -

#346th man of the year candidates are good players, this rules out Kobe for contention.Originally posted by klemopixxImagine him playing for the Bulls, or better yet the Cavs! Kobe WAS a great player, top 5 SG all time, but by all metrics he is far below average at this age.Comment
