I'm a tightwad, but went ahead and spent the $4.99 on On Demand to watch it. Loved it. My wife loved it too. Its hard to find a movie we both can agree on. She had to hide her eyes on the scene near the end when Wahlberg was making his final bet. Best part of the movie was John Goodman though. God, I love the way he's portrayed in this movie. His scene when he lends Wahlberg the money is officially in my Top 5 of favorite scenes of all time.

#3I saw the movie and agree 100% John Goodman was easily the best actor in this movie also Jessica Lange as the mother gave a stellar performance. Unfortunately, my view of Mark Wahlberg is the same as that of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, etc. while they can get tickets sold, especially to women. they always play the same guy in the movie typecast as calm, collected and suave. most importantly they won't ruin a great script. as a gambler myself I found the movie interesting
For the reasons I think they alluded to in the movie. Gambling seems to be much larger aspect of our live than we are really willing to admit. taking something that honestly most people find socially unacceptable. yet we choose to use this outlet to represent the microcosm of random variance we find real life.Comment -

#4Couldn't believe how long it had been since I saw Jessica Lange in a movie. She was extremely hot looking when I was growing up. I guess its been a long time since I was growing up. Pawn shop was pretty funny. Guy couldn't help but negotiate.Comment -

#15What was unrealistic - the sheer amount?
I know people who follow the same patterns of behavior and betting patterns as Marky Mark in the movie.
Very realistic in my opinion, but somewhat depressing movie. In fact, becuase I could relate to so much, it made me revert to drinking its so depressing.Comment
