Ubaldo Jimenez tossed in the 4th w/ out allowing a hit
Ubaldo Jimenez was ejected from Friday's game against the Red Sox after hitting Pablo Sandoval with a pitch.
The veteran right-hander hadn't allowed a hit through his 3 2/3 innings of work before getting the gate from home plate umpire Jordan Baker. There had been no warning of either bench, and the pitch didn't appear to be intentional, so the quick ejection was extremely curious.

It was intentional. Sandoval nearly broke the 2nd baseman's ankle trying to break up the double play..

I still think there should have been a warning.

No warning needed for ejection. In all other sports you get ejected for deliberate action.

Sandoval deliberately slid way inside the baseline to INTENTIONALLY take out the 2nd baseman's ankle, so I guess he should have been ejected.

It is commonplace in baseball to give warnings to both sides when a batter is hit.

I agree with you! A strike is a strike ~ a ball is a ball from the first pitch of the game to the last pitch. One thing that reigns the umps in is the national games where they have the computer k zone a lot to show where the ump is calling them - where his bias is. They don't like being shown up on national tv and call them better.

As far as balls and strikes - mlb should have the k-zone on every pitch and fire or suspend umps that miss x # of pitches a game.

Is it too much to ask that a professional umpire get 90% of the balls and strikes correct?

Yea their really penetrating up so far this year.

Like in the braves vs jays game..dickey made a beautiful throw which should have been called strike 3 against markaikis but instead walked him next pitch then next batter was freeman and he hit a second deck shot.

Jays still won but its calls like this that really impacts the game and makes them tough to cap sometimes.
