Context...the median U.S. Income is still around $50k- check me if wrong that's just from memory seeing it a few times recently so not sure the exact dollar amount. $40k in most of those states is like $160k in New York or San Diego Andy. You can mortgage a 1900 sq ft home built 5 years ago or less for $1100/month in a family suburb vs paying 3X that for a 800 sq ft apartment in NYC and so forth. Finally...look into the demographics and population bases in those states and you'll see exactly how the voter breakdown goes.

Population growth, growing dependent generation mentality and a lack of motivation for people to keep up with the changing economy. Plenty of good paying jobs out there...but they require actually learning something and not just showing up in pajama pants and demanding a paycheck for figuring out how to get there. Tesla's huge facility they are building now...offering great salary and benefits but can't find the workers who have the required skill sets...too many people studying philosophy and art instead of a professional field or going to 2 year school for a technical certification and not a general business certificate thinking that lower level classes will earn them a CEO slot straight out of community college.
