Kawhi Leonard is officially a top 5 player in the NBA

His Finals MVP performance was great but there's been barely a peep about him this year.

The Claw is without a doubt a top 5 player and maybe even top 3 at this point. One could argue that only James influences the game more than this dude.

^^ half those guys don't play any D...Leonard's defensive dominance/versatility should be treated like a 30pt scorer is treated. He is around top 10ish, but I would put him top 15 definite now, top 10 if he plays all next season like he has the last 20 games. Easily top 5 two way player though, more like top 3.

You're making a good point. He has improved noticeably from last year, still maintaining his efficiency as the central piece of the Spurs' offense. His stat line would be much more impressive if he hadn't had all those little injuries throughout the season, the last 20 games or so are a better representation of what his contribution on the court is right now. Dude's also the best perimeter defender in the league and I don't think anyone can challenge him for that title now that Lebron has slowed down a little on that side of the court.

Still, I'd like him to be a bit better offensively, and he's most likely getting there, to put him in the top 5. Top 10, for sure, though, it'd be a shame if the guy didn't make 2nd team All-NBA.

Aside from a younger Lebron, he is the closest thing we have seen to Scottie Pippen in the modern era...plays both ends of the floor... a nightmare defender on the perimeter...and a mean postgame that can rival PF's twice his size...i pity the fool who has to has the unfortunate assignment of guarding and or being guarded by him come the 1st round..the kid is a problem..

I would put him right there with Gasol on bordering top 10. Both don't get the credit they deserve because their "numbers" aren't there but they are top tier defenders and can put up points when needed. If Gasol had to carry the Grizz by himself, he would be putting up 25 a game easily. I can see Kawhi doing the same if he put up the same # of shots as most of the guys on that list. Wall is a great talent, but overrated as a player imo, that's one dude that needs to step it up to be in the conversation.
