starting pitching should decent for Detroit even without Verlander but i do worry about the bullpen.

Shane Greene is very talented but he is a strikeout artist and often gets his pitch count up to the point where he cannot go deep into ball games.

Anybody who discounted the Royals at the start of the season just wasn't paying attention last year.
Aoki and Butler were not key cogs, Shields was valuable in the sense that he was an innings eater, however you don't need deep starting pitching if you have this generations greatest bullpen, Royals still have six gold glover caliber defenders, and all that speed never slumps.

Now I'm not playing 20-20 hindsight here, I did think KC was winning this year, but I thought the pressure would come from Chicago, and they proved me wrong.

KC wins the division in a walk, now that they have tasted pressurized baseball, the stretch run this year will be easier.
