statistically proven if you beat the closer you should win long term
If you bet Clips -6 of course you have no shot vs the -4.5 in the long run

Getting the best possible number and beating the closing number mattered a whole lot more before everyone had access to any and all information. Books had to wise up once the average gambler had injury reports, weather issues, last-minute lineup changes, social media, etc. at their fingertips. If you continue to think simply getting the best number will guarantee you some sort of long-term profit in this day and age, well, have fun trying to stay in the black.
Wasn't directed at you or I would have quoted our post from yesterday in my post. Was more for everyone in the thread that doesn't get the value of getting the best number. Obviously dynamics are constantly changing in the sports gambling market however I'm quite sure that if I beat the closing number in the NBA by an avg of 2 pts (the amount we beat it by last night)a game that I won't have to worry about whether I stay in the black or not.

It's relevant to the sport and by how much the closer is beaten by, in terms of the number and the price.......
As a broad, broad example.
Lay Packers -5 -110, closes -5.5 -110......-EV
Lay -4 Clippers -110, closes -6 -109........+EV
