My first post here in this forum.
I am nearly deaf, so Bill Walton does not bother me a bit.
Any games that I watch usually has subtitles on, so that's how I'm about to "hear" the commentary, which sometimes is useful, but most of the times is not.
Only the see-through subtitles are good ... the closed-captioning with the big, black backgound and white letters ... that's horrible, as you can't see through/around the letters to see the effing field or court.

I'd take him over Doris Burke any day. Whenever the Bearcats are on ESPN we are cursed with the bottom rung of announcers.

I can name five that are worse than Walton. Miles Simon. Clueless as they come to breaking down a game. Shane Battier. Should be calling high school games. Greenberg = Farnham, and the fifth is Dakich.
Espn's college basketball coverage regarding broadcast teams is putrid. But Walton is far from the problem.

i love Walton. Vitale is the worst and it's not even close. i watched Duke/ND at a bar the other night so that i could avoid hearing Vitale.

They both over sensationalize, but Dicky V's rants are at least about top college players. Walton might rant about hitting puberty or Beathoven or how some 6th man on a 3rd place PAC-12 team is obviously going #1 in the NBA draft. He's a lunatic.
Dave Pasch must want to strangle him every game.
W: "I don't get the deflate-gate. If they want to deflate the ball, go ahead! Why not?"
P: "well because that's a clear violation of the rules."
W: "so is wearing a uniform. You have to have your shirt tucked in! What's the difference?!"
P: ".....silence..... One directly affects the performance and outcome of the game and the other is an article of clothing."
LOL, Yea I was watching that. Pash was getting annoyed for real. They almost started an argument when he brought up that shirt tail. I was laughing my ass off. Bill will let anything come out of his mouth without thinking, he could care less what anybody has to think or say! Classic!

Started cracking up when Pasch asked him who he was rooting for in the super bowl. Walton explains he has very close ties to both teams and won't give an answer. After Pasch asks again, Walton noticeably annoyed, asks Pasch which of his 3 kids he favors more to create an analogy

Walton should be jetted around the country to do as many games as possible. Easily the best comedy on TV.

Crazy Bill just went on a multiple possession rant about Seattle's economy. Cut off Pasch as he tried to announce Shawn Kemp going to the bench. Finally, Pasch says, "alright let's get back to the game."

Much rather listen to Walton than that slobbering fool Lou Holtz on football.... I feel so bad to Mark May trying to keep it professional with that guy slurping every word.

They should team Walton with Clyde Frazier, that would be a great dynamic duo. Great contrast in dress attire too. Lol

When I watched a college game last week he didn't say who was shooting a 3pointer but he had some great info about New Foundland Indians. I'd listen again.

I'm listening to him right now and I like him alot because he always makes laugh some how. Don't take him so seriously. As it turns out he knows a good deal about the game regardless of how he presents it sometimes.

sometimes it's funny but i used to think it was funnier than i do now. but i think for any of us, if you have action on the game, then it becomes more infuriating than it would be normally.

I had Oregon last night and when Bill came on the air it was just another reason to watch. The best part is his outlandish comments and he makes a lot of valid points. For example, he asked the question why are there so many timeouts (TV timeouts) this is basketball. And he's right! There so many TV breaks to make money and its annoying, just give us our basketball back!! The profiteers have hijacked everything in this country. When Bill announces its more than just about basketball. He is a social commentator, a philosopher of sorts. So I enjoy his drug induced perspective.
