I'm not sure if they can definitely afford it but I think they have to take the risk. They can't win anything with him playing hurt unless it really doesn't affect him.

Winning 3 series without homecourt and potentially not even getting in is a daunting prospect but it's surely better than going the whole way with an injured player.
