This is how good the books are.
Let's just say I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that on Christmas Day the first NBA game would go under the total.

I have online access but wanted to hit up the casino and lay a large wager on the under because again I knew the under was the side and I figured it would be my gift to myself.

instead of making and excuse to leave on Christmas Day I stroll over to the Casino the night before and compare the local books total on the Wizzards/Knicks total some have 191.5 others 192. I go lay a couple grand on 192 under.

It's Christmas Day everyone's happy and all is good.

Literally 15 minutes before tip the total jumps to 194 out of the blue.

Right then, I knew I was fukked and fukked hard. I knew that the only number that could beat me and the total still cashes for the Under is 193. It took a lot of balls but I go online a grab under 194 because I knew the outcome.

If you watch the last bit of that game, a lot of funny business goes on. Like the wizards up big and start fouling the Knicks with under 2 minutes to go because the Knicks kept throwing up bricks and the total was NOT hitting where the books wanted.

What do you know the total miraculously lands on 193 and Under cashes. The books raped anyone who bought the under early or those who misread the line jump and wagered Over the 194 at the last minute.

So should I be happy and feel good I was on the right side?

anyways just thought I would share

this was my worse beat since I was up 19 points in a college football game with 1:43 left and the other team scored 3 TD's years ago to crush my underdog ML. That was about 4-5 years ago.

whats your bad beat this year?

Actually, I would think the books got ****** hard here because they have to pay out over 192 and under 194

Trinity good point but I doubt any big fish hammered the Over early, maybe I am wrong but I got to believe if it's not broken you don't fix it.

Try Try....ya to be honest after the first quarter it should have sailed over the total, which only makes the outcome even more strange.

Look what happened to me - not much of difference:

Yes, this is gambling ... NBA can end like a roll of the dice, literally!

I do understand what you are saying but why not just wait until the last minute to make your bets if that's the case or try and make live bets if you were going to get a bad number on what you like?

Worst beat for me was that nightmare Sunday in the NFL when Geno Smith threw a pick-6 against the Bronco's on the final play (I think down 8, getting 8.5--lost by 15). Thankfully my memory is short but on that same day 2 other NFL teams threw (meaningless) pick-6's in the final seconds to change the spread result. I was on the wrong side of all 3! It still hurts.

Trinity - agree and that's kinda my point Vegas knew most people won't be at the casino right before tip on chrimbo day.

Harry, that is unreal, thanks for sharing I feel a lot better.

Yeah what about the people who played over 192 then once they saw it move to 194 hit the under.

Had Michigan college bball couple years back -2.5 against the badgers and I think gasser hit a half court shot to tie and take to ot where I lost the biggest bet of my life at the time.

                          Also check my bet here:

The line started at 207.5 ... those who had it didn't have to sweat this last 3 pointer!!!!!
So sometimes booking things early helps ...

NBA refs get notified shortly before tip what the total/point spread they need and they officiate according and put the slaves in position to cash for the books.

sounds like the refs are the slaves, no?

nba players make more off the games then the books do

One of my worst was 2 years ago in Vegas Duke Vs Cinci.Duke had been covering all game and was driving for the winning touchdown late but they fumbled or thru and interception and the guy ran it back all he way for a touchdown.Covered the spread with about a Minute left I may be wrong in some of the details maybe I blocked it out.
