If both Dallas and Seattle finish at 12-4, why doesn't Dallas get home field throughout the playoffs. I thought head to head is the first rule to a tie-breaker, which would give the Dallas the edge over Seattle?

#2It may be best that Dallas doesn't get home field advantage, seeing as they are 7-0 on the roadComment -

#4If it is just Dallas and Seattle at 12-4, then Dallas does get it but after today that is impossible since someone in the NFC North will be 12-4 (barring a tie).Originally posted by frostno98If both Dallas and Seattle finish at 12-4, why doesn't Dallas get home field throughout the playoffs. If it is a 3-way tie you can only use head-to-head if you beat both the other teams. Dallas beat Seattle but not Detroit or Green Bay so you go to the next tiebreaker, conference record - and Dallas is last out of all those teams.
The only way Dallas gets a bye is if Seattle beats Arizona tonight and then they both lose next week (barring a tie in GB-Detroit).Comment -

#7Not true. Head to head is always first but, as I mentioned above, you have to have beaten (or lost to) everybody you are tied with. Dallas didn't play GB or Detroit this year so you can't use head to head in any tie breaking scenario.Originally posted by stealthyburritoRecord vs conf comes before head to head.Comment -

#12Dallas seems locked in as 3 seed. Won't get home field over Seattle because of THREE-WAY tie with NFC North Winner. If it is Detroit, they did not play Seattle so head-to-head goes out. If it is Green Bay, then Seattle split vs. Green Bay and Dallas and Dallas did not play Green Bay so again head-to-head goes out.Comment -

#19Detroit going to Dallas first round. Detroit wins and maybe Suh will sit on Wilson's head and beat Seattle, so they can come back to Wisconsin and lose again.Comment -

#20You're right, I had a first-round bye in my mind instead of #1 seed.Originally posted by LT ProfitsBut then Arizona would take #1 seed with a win.
Looks like there are two possible scenarios, both require a Dallas WIN and a GB-Det TIE:
Arizona LOSS
or..
Arizona WIN + Seattle WIN
...All based on Detroit and GB tying which obviously isn't likely.Comment -

#24Right I joked somewhere that Lions vs. Packers TIE would create more chaos. On the 1% chance (probably less than that) that Det/GB tie, then Dallas would clinch #1 seed with a win. I wouldn't home my breath though.Originally posted by yankees10Why couldn't Seattle win and Detroit / gbay tie that would create head to head would it not ?
