I always thought it sucked MJ retired for that stint. I believe that Rockets team may have been the best squad outside of Da Bulls in 90's and should have been an incredible series. Rudy was a great coach and Mad Max, Cassel, Drexler, Big shot Bob, Thorpe, Hakeem etc....helluva squad!

Being a Rocket fan, I'll respond to some of these posts. Harden has made a concerted effort to improve his defense this year, after playing for Team USA, and it definitely shows. Rockets are 3rd ranked defense in the league right now. Now after adding Brewer, the second squad's D just got much better.

I have a lot more respect for McHale as a coach this year. The Rockets were missing 3/5 of their starting lineup, and 2 key reserves, for several games, but they continue to win. In the Western Conference, that's not being lucky. That's the players understanding that its all about the next man up, and that focus comes from good coaching.

As far as winning the championship, I won't go that far. We have H2H issues with the Clippers, Thunder, and Grizzlies. They seem to have our number in recent years, and there is no way we can avoid all 3 of those teams in the playoffs.

Pelicans game was more of a schedule loss. Was a B2B for the Rockets, after playing an overtime game in the high altitude of Denver, the night before.
