Looks like mike1234 misplayed his position. Basic strategy was:1st place: Should took value (OH ST). Best chance for win, and cheaper to hedge.
2nd place: Go contrarian (OR). Knowing 1st place likely took OHST, having 45% chance of 1st place is better than 55% chance of 2nd place.

If you take +5.5, yes. This is one of the cases where buying points are good. Besides great SBR special (+7-115 where you have a chance for a half middle), you can buy up to 6.5 at most books for about -130.

Definitely worth it in this format especially since you're entering with betpoints and not cash. Plus, with even 2 teams you have a small advantage of knowing what your last pick for the other team. Well, imagine being on 10+ teams.

I would have done the same thing, just assumed SBR would have stopped it. They said there was a limit on how many teams you could be on even though they never did give an answer after being asked multiple times.

And the kicker is they extended the number of contest entries...lol

i think they even stuck to 3 teams which is respectful.

I'm sure next year there will be some kind of limit. Big mistake here was telling everyone there was a limit without setting it then not stopping someone from being on 11 teams which is absurd.
