This game seems hard to guess. It's a question of which team is more dysfunctional. For the Chargers, they have been unable to protect Rivers with their 3rd string center. When the blitzes aren't picked up, Rivers has a long day.

For the 49ers, the dysfunction seems greater. It's difficult to pinpoint why this team is underachieving. Kaepernick sucks - is it all him? Is it his O-line? Why has Vernon Davis disappeared? Now the 49ers are eliminated from playoffs - does that get them down or will they rise as 'spoiler'?

I fear the 49ers defense can create havoc upon Chargers' wounded O-line. This game is a tough pick. Chargers pick seems reasonable, but we can never be surprised to see 49ers win a game.

As for 49ers, this team is plagued with injuries and their offense is absolutely garbage. They really struggle to make a 1st down and the only guys, they can rely on are Crabtree, Gore, Boldin and Kaep doing his thing. SD really needs this win to even consider making the playoffs, SF is out already, so put it all together I'll give SD the edge here.

im not against sd at all, doubt i bet this gm but id be super cautious with this line of thinking as it one of the biggest mistakes i see ppl make yr after yr. very common for the team that "needs it" to come out and get beat. not many teams in the nfl tank and with contracts the way they are players cant afford to be out there dogging it cause their team out of the playoff picture.. niners are just a bad team right now tho and the guys they "count on" are far from reliable.. still hard to be real enthusiastic bout sd cause w or w/o mathews their run gm has struggled, i think allen a pretty big deal as he was by far the best route runner on the team, royal and floyd have their uses but dont think either excels being the top option.. it still be sd or nothing. i just lean to nothing with a really good ncaa hoops card to play instead.. gl
