Bank wants to hold check 3 weeks

Is this normal for a Canadian check withdrawal? I normally get a major US bank check.

Depends on your bank. Mine allows me to cash foreign checks as long as i have more than the value in my account already. If not for that it takes 28 days.

As I said by PM, you are probably safe to assure him its ok, but problems can occur with payment processors in this market so if you want to be honest you can't really tell him it is rock solid.

Will it ruin your relationship anyway? I'd probably say I know the company pays a lot of people by check as has done for years but this is my first one.

Made several (same posts) in threads like yours.

99% of the time you will receive PO's from Canadian bnk cks. It's up to you to find a bnk in the US who will cash these things with no hassle. I found a bnk that will do this... I only keep $1.00 in the acct. Just cashed 3k chk the other day... cleared next business day. You need to do your homework... find a bnk in your area that will do this for you.

I never heard of longer than 7 business days. Prob can thank fags like samsncharge for posting pictures of checks with the banks names on them telling everyone he won money illegally and where it came from. Fukkin d-bag.

My credit union holds them 3 days.

BkofAma releases $300 immediately and the remainder the next morning. But I do have a long history with them with no bounced checks.

Did this to me once on a poker check. Large national bank, branch in little country town. Did it for "My own protection" because they had scam checks cashed through there before. No problem waiting two weeks.

as long as the funds are in dollars, this shouldn't matter but i've heard some banks do put a hold on foreign checks.
