#37It used to be super discreet, as they mentioned earlier in the thread, no talk of spreads. All that is gone. You've got cowherd, cousin sal, CFB prediction shows where they are straight up talking spread, o/u.
Not sure when this happened. I've only been a bettor since 2011. Didn't pay a whole lot of attention before.
good for biz as more square money should create market inefficiencies that people like me can exploit.Comment -

#38Have also noticed a lot more attention on this and it's great. You can't go a few minutes without a gambling reference or seeing the odds on the screen's ticker. Colin's Sunday show is good too.Comment -

#39Actually right now is the time to pile on against the NFL as they have their hands full with the commishioner vulnerable from his mishandling of several issues this year
this is where sports reporters should start piecing together footage of the NFL games where their own Announcers keep referencing the spreads on air. Then turn outspoken Mark Cuban loose ad nauseum on the NFL's hyposcrisy to fan the flames
The NFL is caving to public pressure everywhere. This talk could be squashed immediately by the NFL with an iron fist memo but the NFL has done nothing but say it's against legalizing betting yet won't take action against those violating promoting it. Further exploiting their hypocrisy
If there were a smoking gun memo or email out there dug up by the investigative reporters (or hackers) ever slightly indicating the NFL acknowledging gambling correlating to increased fan interest it would be another pr nightmare
Classic example is al michaels every week...."he "UNDER threw him in the back of,the end zone as time expires", " this game is "OVER" in more ways than one, one colts game years ago they should have just kneeled from the opponents 9-10 yd line but handed it off and the rb,took it in and michaels said oh that just made a lot of people very unhappy As indy covered the spread
id love to see interview with goodell addressing why NFL based on their anti gambling stance, hasn't stopped this from occurring by explicitly writing in contracts with networks no reference to gambling, direct , indirect etc
good luck getting him to do,interview though he's a chickenshitComment -

#41Not even just NFL.
After the March Madness bracket was revealed last year, CBS and ESPN both had programs catered specifically for the first round lines, what the "sharps" liked and what it ment for the bracket.Comment -

#42Attention: Degenerates
Avoid ESPN and sports in general for a while
If your poison was wagering on NFL games, step away from the tube and skip to a different section of the newspaper until you have some time not wagering under your belt. It is tough to quit gambling overnight, and even harder when you are constantly watching or reading about the very sport that you won and lost money wagering.

After that, it's pretty easy for me to step away. I can't stand betting on meaningless regular season basketball games.Comment -
