NFL Player News for Week 14 - Weekend Edition
CHI - WR Brandon Marshall's season over
    Source: NFL.com - Gregg Rosenthal
Updating a previous report, Chicago Bears WR Brandon Marshall (ribs, lung) will miss the rest of the season after breaking two ribs and suffering a collapsed lung in Week 14 Thursday, Dec. 4. Marshall remains in a hospital Friday, Dec. 5.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Marshall took a knee to the back to end his 2014. The Bears were already looking like a team prone to mail it in in any given week from here on out, although Jay Cutler racked up the garbage time numbers this week and could do it again against the Saints next week. Alshon Jeffery should get more targets and more coverage, so his value is unchanged, but Martellus Bennett could remain a PPR monster as Cutler's security blanket with Marshall out.

MIN - RB Adrian Peterson likely back next week?
    Source: SI.com - Peter King
Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson is likely, but not certain, to be reinstated by league appeals officer Harold Henderson next week, in the opinion of columnist Peter King. The team would have to decide whether to activate him for the final three games.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Just because Peterson is reinstated, doesn't mean he'll play, and we've heard all kinds of reports of players being able to play after being disciplined and had them not come true. Peterson is worth an add because of the upside he presents, but don't hold your breath waiting for him to come back.

ARI - RB Andre Ellington ruled out
Source: The Arizona Republic - Kent Somers
Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington (hip, foot) has been ruled out for Week 14, according to head coach Bruce Arians. RB Stepfan Taylor will be the starting running back for the game.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Taylor is still a deep "what the heck flex" with Marion Grice and Michael Bush also likely getting work in a lackluster running game.

HOU - Probable status for RB Arian Foster
    Source: HoustonTexans.com
Houston Texans RB Arian Foster (groin) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 5, and is probable for Week 14 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The probable designation is a terrific sign that Foster suffered no setbacks with his groin injury in the romp over the Titans last week. He's a strong RB1 against Jacksonville this week.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald a game-time decision
    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban
Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (knee) is not 100 percent at this point and will be a game-time decision for the team's Week 14 game, according to head coach Bruce Arians.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
This makes it easy to leave him on your bench with a late starting game, but if his status affects your decision on whether to play Michael Floyd, it could be a more difficult call.

CHI - WR Marquess Wilson, WR Josh Morgan See Opportunity
    Source: ESPNChicago.com - Michael C. Wright
Chicago Bears WR Marquess Wilson will likely be used to replace WR Brandon Marshall (ribs, lung) on the outside, while WR Josh Morgan will likely move into the slot-receiving role.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Wilson is worth stashing in dynasty leagues, as he had been working with Marshall and Jeffery in the offseason and had generated buzz before going down with a shoulder injury in the preseason.

MIN - Jerick McKinnon ruled out
    Source: Vikings.com
Minnesota Vikings RB Jerick McKinnon (back) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and has been ruled out for Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
The Vikings will mix some of Matt Asiata, Ben Tate, and Joe Banyard in for the tough matchup against the Jets run defense, rendering them all unusable in typical leagues this week.

NYG - RB Rashad Jennings questionable
    Source: Giants.com
New York Giants RB Rashad Jennings (ankle) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is questionable for Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jennings is still basically a game-time decision and would seem to be affected by the injury even if he does play. He's a low-end RB2 at best despite the great matchup this week and stat line last week.

KC - More touches for RB Jamaal Charles?
Source: The Kansas City Star - Randy Covitz
Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles had just 14 touches (10 runs, four catches) in the team's Week 13 loss to the Denver Broncos, and offensive coordinator Doug Pederson realizes that the team needs to put the ball in Charles' hands more often to close out the season. Charles' 35 rushing yards against the Broncos was his lowest total of the year since Week 2 when he was injured. “We as a staff, and me as a coordinator, I have to allow him to touch the football as often as we can,” Pederson said. “You look at the stat sheet and look at the targets and the number of touches that guys get, and then you go back and say, ‘Oh, I wish I would have done this or I wish I would have done that, or more of this or less of that,’ after the game, win or lose.'
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Something like the 40+ that DeMarco Murray got last night would make Charles owners very happy. Against the stiff Cardinals defense, he might need a higher volume to deliver on his RB1 ranking and price tag in the first week of the playoffs.

OAK - Raiders excited about RB Latavius Murray
    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Scott Bair
Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray had 112 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the team is excited about what he can provide them down the stretch. “I love the way Latavius runs the football,” interim head coach Tony Sparano said. “I like what I’ve seen, but I’ve seen (14) carries. I want to see more of them. I’m curious, too. I’m curious just like the fans are curious.” Despite Sparano's curiosity, he stated that Murray won't immediately be a workhorse back in Week 14 against the San Francisco 49ers. It's likely that RBs Darren McFadden and Maurice Jones-Drew will see significant touches this weekend, but Murray will likely have an increased workload than what he's seen in the past.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Murray's matchup is tough and the lack of a workhorse workload is an extra disincentive to trust Murray this week. He's an upside flex play, but one with a very low floor too.

DAL - QB Tony Romo has broken ribs
Source: The Dallas Morning News - Jon Machota
Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back, ribs) revealed Thursday, Dec. 4, that he has been playing through broken ribs along with the transverse process fractures in his back.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Romo looked a bit limited throwing downfield in the first half, but was able to make a deep throw to Dez Bryant and a nice TD throw on the run to Cole Beasley in the second half. Despite the dud vs. the Eagles last week, he'll still be worth a low QB1 start in the semis.

IND - WR Reggie Wayne may consider retirement
    Source: RTV6 - Mike Chappell
Indianapolis Colts WR Reggie Wayne indicated he may consider retirement this offseason but will need time to make a decision. Wayne said he will only sign with the Colts if he decides to continue his playing career. Wayne will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Wayne has slowed down greatly in the last two weeks and shouldn't be in lineups this week at Cleveland despite the good matchup.

NE - WR Julian Edelman, WR Brandon LaFell questionable
    Source: Patriots.com
New England Patriots WR Julian Edelman (thigh) and WR Brandon LaFell (shoulder) both were limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and are questionable for Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Both are expected to play Sunday night against San Diego, but check back in Sunday morning if they are in your lineup just in case.

    CLE - Isaiah Crowell iffy
    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper
Cleveland Browns RB Isaiah Crowell (hip) was limited in practice for the second straight day Friday, Dec. 5, and is questionable for Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts. RB Terrance West would likely be the starter if Crowell can't play. However, West fumbled twice last week, leaving head coach Mike Pettine to leave open the possibility that West won't be in the lineup at all this week.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Crowell is the only Browns back you want to go near this week. UDFA Glenn Winston and recent street free agent signing Shaun Draughn could figure into the picture this week, maybe even in a large role.

CLE - TE Jordan Cameron questionable
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Tom Reed
Cleveland Browns TE Jordan Cameron (concussion) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is questionable for Week 14 against the Indianapolis Colts. He needs to pass at least one more concussion test with a neurologist Friday before being cleared for contact, but head coach Mike Pettine is hopeful that Cameron can return after missing the last five games.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Don't put Cameron in your lineup quite yet, but if he is active, he should be ready to play his full complement of snaps and benefit from coverage drawn by Josh Gordon against a short-handed Colts defense.

NE - Friday practice report for Week 14
    Source: Patriots.com
New England Patriots LB Chris White (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is doubtful for Week 14. LS Danny Aiken (concussion), CB Kyle Arrington (ankle), OG Dan Connolly (ankle), DE Dominique Easley (knee), OT Cameron Fleming (ankle), LB Dont'a Hightower (shoulder) and DE Chandler Jones (hip) all were limited in practice and are questionable. OT Marcus Cannon (hip) fully practiced and is probable.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jones could be back this week, just as Hightower's shoulder is becoming an issue. They'll need as much help as they can get against Philip Rivers this week.

TB - RB Bobby Rainey questionable
    Source: DetroitLions.com
Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Bobby Rainey (ankle) did not practice for the third straight day Friday, Dec. 5, and is questionable for Week 14 against the Detroit Lions.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If Rainey is out, it might allow Charles Sims and Doug Martin catch another ball or two, but he hasn't been a big part of the Bucs offense for a while.

CAR - RB DeAngelo Williams ruled out in Week 14
    Source: Panthers.com
Carolina Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (hand) missed practice for the third straight day Friday, Dec. 5, and has been ruled out for Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Jonathan Stewart is worth a look as a flex play. He has played well in recent weeks and should get the majority of the RB touches for the Panthers at New Orleans.

MIA - TE Charles Clay questionable
    Source: MiamiDolphins.com
Miami Dolphins TE Charles Clay (hamstring) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is questionable for Week 14 against the Baltimore Ravens.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Clay is not a sure thing to return against Baltimore. Whether it's him or Dion Sims, the Dolphins starter at tight end is only a middling streamer this week.

BAL - WR Torrey Smith listed as probable
Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jon Meoli
Baltimore Ravens WR Torrey Smith (knee) practiced in full Friday, Dec. 5, and is probable for Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins. Smith was optimistic about his chances of playing on Thursday.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Smith's probable tag means his missed practices earlier this week were mostly for rest and precautionary purposes. Smith has been on a scoring role and makes for a good WR3/Flex upside play at Miami.

BAL - RB Justin Forsett questionable for Week 14
    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com
Baltimore Ravens RB Justin Forsett (knee) was limited in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is questionable for Week 14 against the Miami Dolphins. Forsett was downplaying his knee injury as 'regular soreness' earlier this week.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Check back on Sunday morning, but it sounds like the Ravens planned this and Forsett should still get his normal workload as long as he is active. The matchup against the Dolphins is a good one after the Jets exposed the cracks in their run defense on Monday night.

ATL - WR Roddy White sits
    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com
Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (ankle) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 5.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Tomorrow is the important practice for White, but he himself has said if he doesn't practice during the week, don't put him in your lineup. If White can go, he'll play Monday night at Green Bay in a game that should force the Falcons to throw to keep up with the Packers.

NO - TE Jimmy Graham bothered by shoulder
Source: The New Orleans Advocate - Nick Underhill
New Orleans Saints TE Jimmy Graham (shoulder) has still very much been bothered by a shoulder injury that he suffered earlier this year, and he said he's still managing pain 'every day' that has affected his blocking abilities. “At times this year the shoulder has really held me back sometimes,” Graham said. “Other times I’m able to fight through the pain. I just got to man up and keep doing it.”
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Graham has found himself playing through nagging injuries and having his number affected by them for each of the last three years. He probably won't be a first-round pick next year, but he'll still go very early.

TEN - WR Kendall Wright's status in question
    Source: TitansOnline.com
Tennessee Titans WR Kendall Wright (hand) did not participate in practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as questionable for Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Even if Wright plays, despite the absence of Justin Hunter he's still not a good play, as he'll likely be of limited effectiveness playing with a broken hand.

    TEN - Zach Mettenberger questionable
Source: The Tennessean - Jim Wyatt
Tennessee Titans QB Zach Mettenberger (shoulder) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 5, and is listed as questionable for Week 14. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt said the team is optimistic that Mettenberger will be able to play.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Whether it's Mettenberger or Locker, the Titans pass offense doesn't have anyone worth considering outside of tight end Delanie Walker this week.

BUF - WR Robert Woods expected to play
    Source: BuffaloBills.com
Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods (ankle) was limited during practice Friday, Dec. 4, and is listed as probable for Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Woods seems to have a better rapport with Kyle Orton than Sammy Watkins, so if you want to go with any Bills receiver this week, he's the best bet.

DEN - TE Julius Thomas questionable for Week 14
Source: The Denver Post - Troy E. Renck
Denver Broncos TE Julius Thomas (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 14.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Thomas is a game-time decision again, and there has been a lot of word that he will be limited even if he does play. Consider him a low TE1 if active, and a better play in nonPPR than PPR leagues.

WAS - WR DeSean Jackson misses practice again
    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim
Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (shin) missed another practice Friday, Dec. 5.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Assume that Jackson won't play against the Rams, and if he does, he'll be a very risky play. This definitely hurts Colt McCoy as a streaming option in the first week of the playoffs.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen questionable
    Source: NFL.com
Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 14 against the New Orleans Saints, but head coach Ron Rivera likes Olsen's chances of playing.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Olsen is a must start as long as he is active. He has been one of the more consistent fantasy TEs this season.
